Reference Standard of Low-Frequency Electric Field Strength With Electrical Traceability

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2023
For calibration of the environmental monitoring field meters, a reference standard of electric field strength based on parallel plates is established in the Primary electromagnetic laboratory FER-PEL in Croatia. The plate system incorporates guard ring electrodes with a set potential distribution to improve field uniformity within the center ...

Distribution fitting for long term electric field strength measurements

2017 40th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2017
As a result of the enormous increase in usage of wireless systems; electromagnetic radiation (EMR) sources in residential areas as well as the exposed EMR levels has increased significantly. Therefore this study aims to determine the exposed E levels and characterize the electromagnetic environment on the basis of long term (24 hours) E measurements ...

Radiated electric field strength from high-power microwave systems

2006 17th International Zurich Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2006
Intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) is an emerging threat and a new electromagnetic environment that has to be considered in the mitigation of electromagnetic compatibility problems. This paper presents an attempt to estimate the upper limitations of IEMI systems based on high-power microwave devices.

New Standard of Electric Field Strength

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1970
A new technique is presented for establishing a standard of electric field strength using a highly conducting sphere. An analysis is made to determine the current on the sphere as a function of the electric field strength of an incident plane wave. A method of measuring that current using electronic circuitry and an optical indicator within the sphere ...

Electric Field Strength Dependent Electric Conductivity in Highly Insulating Materials

Materials Science Forum, 2006
The electric conductivity σ in highly insulating materials is determined by the equilibrium thermally generated carriers and by the injected carriers. The injected excess electrons will dominate the thermally generated electrons when the total number of injected electrons substantially exceeds the total number of initially empty electron traps existing

The mechanical transduction of physiological strength electric fields

Bioelectromagnetics, 2008
AbstractIn this article it is proposed that electric fields of physiological strength (∼100 V/m) are transduced by the mechanical torque they exert on glycoproteins. The resulting mechanical signal is then transmitted to the cytoskeleton and propagated throughout the cell interior.

Determination of the local electric field strength near electric breakdown

2010 17th IEEE International Symposium on the Physical and Failure Analysis of Integrated Circuits, 2010
For a detailed understanding of near electric breakdown a semiconductor device is analyzed by complementary Optical Beam Induced Current and energy-dispersive Photon Emission Microscopy. The potential and limit as well as the physical background of both techniques for the determination of the local electric field strength are discussed in detail.

A Picosecond Pulsed Electric Field Strength Measuring Transducer

Measurement Techniques, 2014
A strip-line picosecond pulsed electric field strength measuring transducer is developed. The transducer can be used for the ultrashort pulsed probing of radio-absorbing materials to determine their characteristics in a frequency band up to 30–40 GHz.

EEG Electric Field Topography is Stable During Moments of High Field Strength

Brain Topography, 2020
Spontaneous broadband electroencephalography (EEG) demonstrates short moments of stability in the spatial distribution of the head-surface voltage topography. This phenomenon underlies the premise behind segmenting multichannel EEG into topographically defined brain states, known as EEG microstates.

Electric Field Strengths at Totally Reflecting Interfaces

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1965
Incoming and reflected light waves superimpose to form a standing-wave pattern normal to a reflecting surface. For total internal reflection, a cosine distribution of the electric field amplitude in the denser medium joins onto the exponential distribution of the penetrating field in the rarer medium.
