The mechanical transduction of physiological strength electric fields
Bioelectromagnetics, 2008AbstractIn this article it is proposed that electric fields of physiological strength (∼100 V/m) are transduced by the mechanical torque they exert on glycoproteins. The resulting mechanical signal is then transmitted to the cytoskeleton and propagated throughout the cell interior.

Determination of the local electric field strength near electric breakdown
2010 17th IEEE International Symposium on the Physical and Failure Analysis of Integrated Circuits, 2010For a detailed understanding of near electric breakdown a semiconductor device is analyzed by complementary Optical Beam Induced Current and energy-dispersive Photon Emission Microscopy. The potential and limit as well as the physical background of both techniques for the determination of the local electric field strength are discussed in detail.

Determining the electric-field strength in a passive film via photo-induced electric fields
Corrosion Science, 2019Abstract The nature of the electric-field strength in the passive film on tungsten is explored using photo-electrochemical techniques. A theoretical expression for the photo-stimulated growth of the film has been derived. Rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE) experiments indicate that photo-corrosion of a tungsten electrode is negligible under super ...

Science of The Total Environment, 2019
A series of electro-dewatering experiments were conducted to explore the effect of sediment cake thickness (1-5 cm) and electric field strength (2-50 V cm-1). The final dry solids content, energy consumption and dewatering productivity were modeled and the validity of the model was tested. It was demonstrated that the electric field strength determines

A Picosecond Pulsed Electric Field Strength Measuring Transducer
Measurement Techniques, 2014A strip-line picosecond pulsed electric field strength measuring transducer is developed. The transducer can be used for the ultrashort pulsed probing of radio-absorbing materials to determine their characteristics in a frequency band up to 30–40 GHz.

EEG Electric Field Topography is Stable During Moments of High Field Strength
Brain Topography, 2020Spontaneous broadband electroencephalography (EEG) demonstrates short moments of stability in the spatial distribution of the head-surface voltage topography. This phenomenon underlies the premise behind segmenting multichannel EEG into topographically defined brain states, known as EEG microstates.

Electric Field Strengths at Totally Reflecting Interfaces
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1965Incoming and reflected light waves superimpose to form a standing-wave pattern normal to a reflecting surface. For total internal reflection, a cosine distribution of the electric field amplitude in the denser medium joins onto the exponential distribution of the penetrating field in the rarer medium.

Electric-field strength in a cascade argon arc
Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics, 2000An experimental investigation of the electric-field strength along the length of a cascade argon at a pressure lower than atmospheric pressure has been performed. The influence of different processes on the formation of the voltage-current and E-I characteristics of the arc was considered.

Organoclay polypropylene nanocomposites under different electric field strengths
Applied Clay Science, 2014Functionalities of clay-polymer nanocomposites (CPN) are related to the degree of clay particle exfoliation and orientation within the polymer matrix. Exploration of new physical methods for such CPN processing is currently an active field of research. In the present work, organoclay polypropylene nanocomposites were prepared by melt intercalation and ...

Killing of bacteria with electric pulses of high field strength
Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 1981Bacteria of the type E. coli K12 have been treated in experiments using high-voltage pulses of short time (microseconds) as a killing agent. The role of different experimental parameters has been studied: kind of electrolyte, concentration, length of pulses, field strength, pH and temperature. Electrolytes with bivalent cations were found to reduce the
