TMS Motor Thresholds Correlate With TDCS Electric Field Strengths in Hand Motor Area

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2018
Transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) modulates cortical activity and influences motor and cognitive functions in both healthy and clinical populations. However, there is large inter-individual variability in the responses to TDCS. Computational

Global Electric Fields at Mars Inferred from Multifluid Hall-MHD Simulations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
In the Martian induced magnetosphere, the motion of planetary ions is significantly controlled by the ambient electric fields, which can be decomposed into three components: the motional, Hall, and ambipolar electric fields.

External Field Response and Applications of Metal Coated Hemispherical Janus Particles

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Hemispherical Janus particles that were coated with silver or nickel on the equatorial plane of hemispherical polymer microparticles were prepared and dispersed in water and the responses to AC electric and stationary magnetic fields applied were ...

Static electric field detection and behavioural avoidance in cockroaches

open access: yes, 2008
Electric fields are pervasively present in the environment and occur both as a result of man-made activities and through natural occurrence. We have analysed the behaviour of cockroaches to static electric fields and determined the physiological ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

A high-altitude balloon experiment to probe stratospheric electric fields from low latitudes [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2017
The Earth's electrical environment hosts a giant electrical circuit, often referred to as the global electric circuit (GEC), linking the various sources of electrical generators located in the lower atmosphere, the ionosphere and the magnetosphere ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Novel numerical analysis of electric fields in the near field of very‐low‐frequency antennas based on the charge simulation method

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
Very‐low‐frequency (VLF) transmitting antennas have a crucial influence on the nearby electromagnetic environment. Commercial software packages, such as CST Studio Suite (CST) or Altair FEKO (FEKO), are always utilised to calculate the electric fields of

State studies of the large-scale electric fields in the low-latitude region of Earth's inner magnetosphere

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评
The large-scale electric fields in Earth's inner magnetosphere are generated by the interaction between the solar wind and Earth's magnetic field.

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...
