INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRICAL MACHINES

2007
This chapter considers the basic working principles of the so-called classical set of machines. This set of machines represents the asynchronous (induction), synchronous , DC machines, and variable reluctance machines. The latter will be discussed in detail, in the book “Advanced Electrical Drives” by the same authors.

The Cooling of Electric Machines

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1923
The elevation in temperature of the windings of any electric machine due to the internal heat losses is usually the dominating factor in limiting the rating of the machine. This limitation found in the heating, is primarily due to the effects of high temperatures on the various types of insulation used in such machines.
