Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Civil Engineering, 1994This paper describes the electrical power supplies which were installed for the construction of the French section of the Channel Tunnel. Almost all the power consumed by the Channel Tunnel project (98%) was electrical. For an installed capacity of 85,000 kW, consumption was that of a town of 25,000 inhabitants.
