Electrically Powered Orthotic Systems

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1969
Electrically powered orthotic systems have been devised at Rancho Los Amigos to provide quadriplegic and other severely paralyzed patients with mobility and voluntary hand movements. The equipment necessary to fit a totally paralyzed patient for maximum restoration of upper extremity function includes an electric wheelchair, a Rancho electric arm with ...

Capability chart for electrical power systems

IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1992
An extension of the concept of the load supplying capability of an electrical power system is proposed, which involves drawing a capability chart. The method for obtaining such a chart is based on an optimisation model, which is repeatedly solved to obtain the points for the chart.

Reliabity of the electrical power system

Proceedings of the 2014 15th International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2014
Article describes the origins of the power system and its connection with field reliability. It is shown to the stability of the whole system and the possibilities that could lead to its final brake up. This article analyzes cases in the history which led to the collapse of the power system and points to the cases which could occur in the future.

Advanced electric power systems

Applied Energy, 1975
Abstract An identification and preliminary evaluation was made of alternative advanced electric power systems which have been suggested for possible future use by the American electric utility industry. The motivation for interest in advanced power systems stems primarily from the rapidly rising costs of clean fossil fuels, especially conventional ...
