Electric/Hybrid-Electric Aircraft Propulsion Systems

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2021
The idea of electric propulsion for transportation is not new; indeed, the first cars, nearly 200 years ago, were electric. However, our dependence on fossil fuels over the last 100 years is now being questioned, and as a global society, we are moving toward more-electric transportation solutions.

Development of Electric Propulsion Systems for Light Electric Vehicles

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2011
This paper presents two light electric vehicles (LEVs) with a electric propulsion system developed at an academic laboratory. One LEV is an electric city scooter powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and propelled by a wheel motor drive. The other LEV is an electric bicycle powered by a fuel cell system with the assistance of a supercapacitor bank ...

Propulsion systems for Light Electric Vehicles

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2010
The paper is concerned with the development of the propulsion system for two Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs), namely a city scooter and an electric bicycle. The propulsion system of the city scooter consists of a wheel motor for the traction and a lithium-ion battery for the energy storage.

Efficiency assessment of Electric Propulsion Systems for electric vehicles

2016 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM), 2016
An efficiency analysis of different configurations of Electric Propulsion Systems (EPSs) is presented in this paper. Particularly, three different Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSMs) have been considered as the electric motor, which are characterized by different speed operating ranges and constant-power speed regions.
