Sliding of Charge Density Waves in a Static Electric Field

Some aspects of the motion of charge density waves under a static electric field observed in a number of quasi one-dimensional conductors with an incommensurate superlattice are reviewed. Experiments aimed at the measurement of the CDW phase velocity are described.
