Plasma‐Treated Hydrogel for Combined RONS and Chemotherapy Delivery: A Proof‐of‐Concept In Ovo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores plasma‐treated hydrogels (PTH) as a new way to deliver both reactive oxygen and nitrogen species and chemotherapy (Doxorubicin) directly to tumors. In ovo tests show effects after a single dose, especially in osteosarcoma tumors. Tumor weight decrease, and a resistance‐related protein is reduced.

Maintenance deep transcranial magnetic stimulation sessions are associated with reduced depressive relapses in patients with unipolar or bipolar depression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Introduction: Deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (dTMS) is a new form of TMS allowing safe stimulation of deep brain regions. The objective of this preliminary study was to assess the role of dTMS maintenance sessions in protecting patients with ...

Recent Trends in Electrical Stimulation Therapy.

open access: yesJournal of exercise physiology, 1994

Embedded 3D‐Coaxial Bioprinting of Stenotic Brain Vessels with a Mechanically Enhanced Extracellular Matrix Bioink for Investigating Hemodynamic Force‐Induced Endothelial Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, a physically enhanced vascular dECM bioink and used 3D‐coaxial bioprinting are developed to fabricate mature brain blood vessels for cerebral atherosclerosis research. This model demonstrates that vascular geometry‐induced hemodynamic changes trigger vascular inflammation, ensuring its potential for cerebrovascular research.

Skin Cell Proliferation Stimulated by Microneedles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A classical wound may be defined as a disruption of tissue integrity. Wounds, caused by trauma from accidents or surgery, that close via secondary intention rely on the biological phases of healing, i.e., hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and ...

BCI-Triggered functional electrical stimulation therapy for upper limb

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Translational Myology, 2016
We present here the integration of brain-computer interfacing (BCI) technology with functional electrical stimulation therapy to restore voluntary function. The system was tested with a single man with chronic (6 years) severe left hemiplegia resulting from a stroke. The BCI, implemented as a simple “brain-switch” activated by power decreases in the 18

Perfusable Brain Microvascular Network‐On‐Chip Model to Study Flavivirus NS1‐Induced Endothelial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a microfluidic brain microvascular network‐on‐chip (BMVasChip) to investigate endothelial barrier dysfunction caused by flavivirus non‐structural protein 1 (NS1), including virus‐ and time‐dependent vascular damage, leakiness, and dysfunction.
