Electric Strength and Liquid Structure

Journal of Applied Physics, 1957
Recent work on the electric strength of pure hydrocarbon liquids has shown that the strength is probably determined by the amount of energy lost by conduction electrons exciting molecular vibrations by collisions while moving under the applied field through the liquid.

The electric strength of solid dielectrics

British Journal of Applied Physics, 1966
It is nearly fifteen years since Whitehead published his comprehensive and authoritative book Dielectric Breakdown in Solid Insulation. At that time it was believed that each solid homogeneous dielectric possessed an intrinsic electric strength which was a physical constant of the substance, adequately accounted for by existing theories.

The Electric Strength of Dielectric Films

Proceedings of the Physical Society, 1948
An attempt is made to verify the rise in electric strength predicted by Frohlich's theory as the thickness of the dielectric specimen approaches the electronic mean free path. The results obtained on a number of materials both crystalline and amorphous are given and discussed in relation to this theory.
