Analysis of Submersible Electric Pumping Systems

SPE Production Operations Symposium, 1987
ABSTRACT This paper presents a field proven analytical method of evaluating submersible electric pumping equipment and well performance jointly. A computerized mathematical model is described which considers the effects of free gas, pump speed (variable frequency drives) and pump tapering.

Analysis of Electric-Submersible-Pumping Systems

SPE Production Engineering, 1989
Summary This paper presents a field-proven analytical method of evaluating electric-submersible-pumping equipment and well performance jointly. A computerized mathematical model that considers the effects of free gas, pump speed (variable-frequency drives), and pump tapering is described.

Metric Learning for Electrical Submersible Pump Fault Diagnosis

2020 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), 2020
Machine learning classification algorithms are highly dependent of a dataset composed of high-level features. In this paper, a deep learning approach is combined with traditional machine learning classifiers in order to circumvent the need of a specialist for extracting relevant features from one dimensional frequency-domain vibration signals.

The Effects of Abrasives on Electrical Submersible Pumps

SPE Drilling Engineering, 1990
SummaryThe electrical submersible pump (ESP) is a high-speed rotating device. Its operational life in oil wells can depend on the type and quantities of abrasives present in the produced fluid. This paper reports on a set of experiments performed in a specialized abrasive test loop. In the test, the size and quantity of abrasives were varied along with

Electrical Submersible Pumps in Subsea Completions

Proceedings of Offshore Europe, 1991
ABSTRACT Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP's) are being utilised on production platforms as a method of artificial lift for enhanced recovery of oil. With more subsea fields being developed, it is apparent that there will be a demand for this technology in subsea completions.

Performance Enhancement of an Electric Submersible Pump

ASME 2014 Gas Turbine India Conference, 2014
A numerical analysis and optimization has been done for a single stage electric submersible pump (ESP) which is basically a centrifugal pump to retrofit into wellbore in groundwater pumping or oil pumping. The pump is designed and simulated using a commercial code.

Depth Constraint of Electric Submersible Pumps

SPE Production & Facilities, 1994
Summary This paper summarizes the various factors that limit electric submersible pump (ESP) operation at increasing depth. It explores in detail two parametrically related constraints, pump-shaft horsepower capacity and thrust-bearing load capacity. The former limits the product of head and rate; the latter limits head.

Dynamics of Electric Submersible Pumps

1992
This paper deals with the dynamics of electric submersible pumps. Initially the linear torsional oscillations occurring under both transient start-up conditions and steady state excitation by harmonic torques generated from a variable speed drive are described with the aid of a realistic model.

Combined electrical and mechanical model of electric submersible pumps

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2001
The electric submersible pump unit consists of a pump powered by a medium-voltage three-phase induction motor. The power transmission system is integrated with the riser pipes. Starting the pump causes heavy dynamic stresses on the motor shaft and the mechanical connection between pump (impellers) and shaft.
