Underwater electrical wire explosion
Plasma Sources Science and Technology, 2010A brief review of the results obtained in recent research of underwater electrical wire explosions using microsecond and nanosecond generators is presented. It was shown that the increase in the rate of energy input into the exploding wire allows one to increase the wire temperature and amplitude of shock waves (SWs).

Wire Electrical Discharge Machines
2008Amongst the non-conventional machining processes, electrical discharge machining has no doubt gained a deserved reputation and popularity in the second half of the 20th century. Wire electrical discharge machines appeared some 30 years ago, and since then the development of new applications in the field of very hard material precision machining, and ...

ELECTRICAL WIRING CONFIGURATIONS AND CHILDHOOD CANCER
American Journal of Epidemiology, 1979An excess of electrical wiring configurations suggestive of high current-flow was noted in Colorado in 1976--1977 near the homes of children who developed cancer, as compared to the homes of control children. The finding was strongest for children who had spent their entire lives at the same address, and it appeared to be dose-related.

Electrical Conductance of Oligothiophene Molecular Wires
Nano Letters, 2008A break junction method using a scanning tunneling microscope has been applied to electrical conductance measurement of newly designed oligothiophene molecules terminated with a thiocyanate group. The tunneling conduction was evident from an exponential decay of the conductance as a function of the molecular length up to ca. 6 nm.

WIRING AN ELECTRIC CONVERSATION
Journal of Experimental Biology, 2004![Figure][1] Whether we twitter, dance or send out scents, most creatures communicate with a suite of signals only appreciated by their own species. Many creatures have co-opted sound, colour and movement for communication, but mormyrid fish have opted for a relatively ...

Contact Wire Wear on Electric Railroads
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1929It is the purpose of this paper to present such data on the subject of contact wire wear as the electric operation of four railroads has made available. Design of overhead system and pantographs, lubrication of pantograph shoes, presence of steam locomotives under catenary, ice on contact wire, condition of roadbed, speed of trains, and amount of ...
