Long-wave infrared photothermoelectric detectors with ultrahigh polarization sensitivity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Filter-free miniaturized polarization-sensitive photodetectors have important applications in the next-generation on-chip polarimeters. However, their polarization sensitivity is thus far limited by the intrinsic low diattenuation and inefficient photon ...

Defocused imaging-based quantification of plasmon-induced distortion of single emitter emission

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2023
Optical properties of single emitters can be significantly improved through the interaction with plasmonic structures, leading to enhanced sensing and imaging capabilities. In turn, single emitters can act as sensitive probes of the local electromagnetic

Geometric Algebra for Electrical and Electronic Engineers

open access: yesProceedings of the IEEE, 2014
In this paper, we explicate the suggested benefits of Clifford's geometric algebra (GA) when applied to the field of electrical engineering. Engineers are always interested in keeping formulas as simple or compact as possible, and we illustrate that geometric algebra does provide such a simplified representation in many cases.

Valence band engineering of GaAsBi for low noise avalanche photodiodes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
An avalanche photodiode is an opto-electronic amplifier that uses impact ionization to provide enhanced sensitivity at the expense of excess noise. In this manuscript, the authors demonstrate that a small amount of Bismuth (Bi) in Gallium Arsenide (GaAs)

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Observer‐Based Adaptive Event‐Triggered Tracking Control for Fuzzy TS Systems With Premise Mismatch

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper presents an adaptive logistic event‐triggered observer‐based tracking controller for Takagi‐Sugeno fuzzy systems under constrained inputs and network delays. Leveraging a hybrid LMI and Secretary Bird Optimization approach, this strategy significantly minimizes communication overhead and computational burden while ensuring optimal reference ...
