Hygromnemics: Programmable Material Memory Matter Actuators via Wet Pre‐Constraining

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Humidity‐based pre‐constraining creates hygromnemics‐shape memory matter. From identical biocomposites actuation in dry and wet states is obtained via hygromnemic and hygromorphic actuation, respectively. Hygromnemic actuators present long‐ and short‐term shape memory abilities.

Characterization of The Electrical and Optical Properties of Ultrabithorax Fusion Fibers for Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this work, Ultrabithorax (Ubx) protein fusions with myoglobin, EGFP and mCherry are investigated and proposed for biosensing applications. For the first time, FRET calculations based on fluorescent lifetime measurements are presented for Ubx‐based protein fusions.

An Ultra‐Sub‐Wavelength Microwave Polarization Switching Antenna for Covert Communication Implemented With Directed Surface Acoustic Waves in an Artificial Multiferroic Magnonic Crystal

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A surface acoustic wave (SAW) launched in a two‐dimensional periodic array of magnetostrctive nanomagnets on a piezoelectric substrate excites spin waves in the nanomagnets which radiate electromagnetic waves in space. The polarization of the emitted beam in particular directions and at particular frequencies can be switched between horizontal and ...
