Vibration and fatigue in electrical conductors

Electrical Engineering, 1932
This paper deals exclusively with the phenomenon ``vibration.'' No reference is made to the allied phenomenon ``dancing.'' The purpose of the paper is to stimulate further research in an endeavor to provide a fundamental preventive of vibration and the resulting fatigue. Economic features such as reducing tensions and spans, are not treated.

A Birefringent and Transparent Electrical Conductor

Advanced Functional Materials, 2008
AbstractWe have developed a range of thin film coatings that are transparent in the visible, electrically conducting, adjustably birefringent and capable of aligning calamitic liquid crystals. The coatings were fabricated from indium tin oxide by oblique or glancing angle deposition, and a wide range of microstructures such as helices, chevrons ...

Vibration in electrical conductors

Electrical Engineering, 1932
Laboratory tests using water as a medium indicate that the vibration of a conductor used for transmitting electric power can be diminished materially by the use of different shapes of cable cross-sections. The investigation shows further that of the various specimens tested, cables having a triangular cross-section show the least tendency to vibrate.

Contact Conductors and Collectors for Electric Railways

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1915
A general classification of collecting devices is given, corresponding to the existing A. I. E. E. classification of contact conductors. Contact rail systems and contact wire systems are considered along with their corresponding collectors. Many data derived from measurements made upon different types of overhead and collecting devices are arranged in ...

Data Relating to Electric Conductors and Cables

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1905
In America, the underground electric cable manufacturing companies for the most part have refrained from publishing much experimental data relative to cables. The principal reasons for this are probably to prevent the disclosure of trade-secrets and manufacturing processes, and to refrain from giving electric data showing the highest excellence of ...
