Determination of the electrical conductivity of heat-resistant concretes

Refractories, 1994
The problem of the electrical conductivity of heat-resistant concretes and bonding agents is considered and a method for determining this parameter is suggested. In addition to the thermal resistivity, the electric conductivity is a factor affecting the lifetime of lining materials for high-temperature devices.

Electrical contact resistance for a conductive Velcro system

Tribology International, 2014
Conductive Velcro fasteners are employed as a joining material for various types of connections due to their detachable properties, especially when an electrical connection is established. Due to microscopic actual contact spots between the fibers and hooks in the Velcro joints, a large electrical contact resistance is established that could cause heat

Electrical resistivity and conductivity of greases: An initial study

Lubrication Science, 2002
AbstractInvestigations of railway wagons fitted with rolling‐element bearings have shown damage to the bearings from the passage of electric current. This also occurs in railway wagons without an electric energy consumption of their own, because of residual currents from electric locomotives. This phenomenon gives rise to technical, financial, and even

Corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity of plasma nitrided titanium

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2021
Abstract The continuous and dense Ti–N compound layers with a thickness ranging from 0.7 to 2.1 μm were formed on the titanium by plasma nitriding at 700 °C for different times with hollow cathode discharge assistance. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize the ...

SURFACE-INDUCED ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY OF CONDUCTING THIN FILMS [PDF]

open access: possibleSurface Review and Letters, 2005
A quantum approach is proposed to calculate the surface-induced electrical resistivity of metallic and semiconducting thin films when several subbands of Fermi participate of the electronic transport. The application of this approach to explain the experimental resistivity data of Pt and Au thin films is briefly reported.

Electrical properties of conductive and resistive ZnSe layers

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 2008
The authors have investigated the electrical properties for one typical set of Al-doped ZnSe layers: one is conductive (type I) and the other is resistive (type II). The two types of ZnSe:Al layers are grown on different substrates by molecular-beam epitaxy under the same conditions: type I is on a 15° tilted (001) GaAs substrate and type II is on an ...

The Effect of Electrical Conductivity on Pore Resistance and Electroporation

Volume 13: Nano-Manufacturing Technology; and Micro and Nano Systems, Parts A and B, 2008
Electroporation refers to the permeabilization of the cell membrane with one or multiple electric pulses. The reversible form of electroporation is widely applied for drug delivery, gene and cancer therapy, and stem cell research, among others; the irreversible form of electroporation is being explored for cancer treatment in a drug-free manner.

Electrical Noise in a TES as a Resistively Shunted Conducting Junction

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2012
We present results of the analysis of electrical noise in a transition edge sensor (TES) as a resistively shunted conducting junction (the RSJ model). We derive an expression for the spectral density of voltage fluctuations taking into account weak superconductivity of a TES.

Micromechanical approach for electrical resistivity and conductivity of sandstone

Journal of Applied Geophysics, 2014
Abstract The objective of this work is to employ the micromechanical approach for the modeling of the electrical resistivity and of the conductivity of sandstone. This type of rock is considered as a mixture of solid mineral and porous space filled fully or partially by conductive water.
