Image Appraisal Tools for Electrical Resistivity Tomography

Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems 2011, 2011
Image appraisal is a problem frequently encountered in electrical resistivity Tomography (ERT), and more generally in non-linear geophysical Inversion. It may include several aspects such as the identification of the geometry of buried structures, the detection of numerical artefacts, the estimation of the depth of Investigation or the exactitude of ...

Electrical resistance tomography: complementarity and quadratic models

Inverse Problems, 2000
Summary: Electrical resistance tomography, the nonlinear inverse problem of retrieving the resistivity of an unknown body from steady-state boundary measurements, is addressed by a quadratic model that approximates the operator mapping the unknown parameters into boundary data. The forward problem, i.e.

Uncertainties Analysis of Electrical Resistivity Tomography

2021
<p>We examined the uncertainty of the resistivity method in cavity studies using a synthetic cavity model set at six-different depths. Conceptual models were simulated to generate synthetic resistivity data for dipole-dipole, pole-dipole, Wenner-Schlumberger, and pole-pole arrays.

Experience With Anisotropic Inversion For Electrical Resistivity Tomography

15th EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 2002
An iterative, Occam’s-style, regularized inverse approach was used to invert a finite-difference based forward model. The new algorithm was tested on existing data from several sites. The use of the anisotropic inversion algorithm produced images that are less prone to artifacts.

Analysis of Sensitivity Matrix for Electrical Resistance Tomography

2019 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2019
Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) is a detection technique for reconstructing conductivity distribution from boundary measurements. However, the image reconstruction of ERT is an ill-posed and nonlinear inverse problem. There are many algorithms for solving inverse problems based on the sensitivity theory, the basic idea of which is to use the ...

Cross‐borehole electrical resistivity tomography

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1990, 1990
Tomographic imaging (Hounsfield, 1974) has revolutionized medical X-ray diagnostics and is now a valuable technique in many areas of science. In geophysics, tomographic images have been constructed from both seismic and electromagnetic measurements (Anderson and Dziewonski, 1984; Dines and Lytle, 1979).

Regularization Parameter considering Electric Field Attenuation for Electrical Resistance Tomography

2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2020
Electrical resistance tomography (ERT) is widely used to reconstruct internal conductivity distribution of the measured field from the boundary data. The inverse problem of ERT is seriously ill-posed and nonlinear. Tikhonov regularization method is a well-known method to solve the problem.

Electrical resistance tomography for process applications

Measurement Science and Technology, 1996
Measurement of electrical resistivity via four probes is widely used in a variety of applications ranging from geophysical prospecting to silicon wafer manufacture. Electrical resistivity tomography is an extension of this approach and is performed via an array of equi-spaced electrodes mounted into the periphery of a process vessel to map non ...
