Electrical resistance tomography: complementarity and quadratic models

Inverse Problems, 2000
Summary: Electrical resistance tomography, the nonlinear inverse problem of retrieving the resistivity of an unknown body from steady-state boundary measurements, is addressed by a quadratic model that approximates the operator mapping the unknown parameters into boundary data. The forward problem, i.e.

Research Progress of Electrical Resistance Tomography

2021
With the development of the times, the non-destructive testing technology of concrete has been continuously explored by countless scientific researchers to meet the requirements of contemporary people for architecture. It is moving toward more accurate, low-cost, portable, non-radioactive, non-injectable, and the development of features such as ...

Uncertainties Analysis of Electrical Resistivity Tomography

2021
<p>We examined the uncertainty of the resistivity method in cavity studies using a synthetic cavity model set at six-different depths. Conceptual models were simulated to generate synthetic resistivity data for dipole-dipole, pole-dipole, Wenner-Schlumberger, and pole-pole arrays.

DC Electrical Resistance Tomography Inversion

2021
Direct current electrical resistivity imaging is provided by measuring the vertical and horizontal electrical potential variations of subsurface structures using surface and borehole records. To recover the resistivity tomograms from the observed data, a non-linear inverse problem is required to be iteratively solved. A 2.5-dimensional forward modeling

Fault Detection Using Electrical Resistivity Tomography

Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems 2010, 2010
Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) data were acquired on the ground surface across an underground limestone mine access tunnel in an effort to characterize the roof rock. This investigation was conducted because simultaneous localized failure occurred on the ceiling of the access tunnel and elsewhere in the mine along a previously unknown ...

Electrical resistance tomography for process applications

Measurement Science and Technology, 1996
Measurement of electrical resistivity via four probes is widely used in a variety of applications ranging from geophysical prospecting to silicon wafer manufacture. Electrical resistivity tomography is an extension of this approach and is performed via an array of equi-spaced electrodes mounted into the periphery of a process vessel to map non ...

Transdimensional Monte Carlo Electrical Resistivity Tomography

Proceedings, 2016
The ability to accurately assess and estimate the uncertainty of the solution to an inverse problem is an important aspect of geophysical inversion. Within this paper, we present a stochastic inversion method for electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) which makes use of Bayesian theory, the reversible-jump Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm, and model

Electrical resistivity tomography for petrophysical investigation

4th EEGS Meeting, 1998
Determination of physical parameters of rock samples is essential to characterize their composition and structure. One of these parameters is electrical resistivity. Depending on porosity, resistivity of the pore fluid, saturation degree and matrix properties (esp.

Experience With Anisotropic Inversion For Electrical Resistivity Tomography

15th EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 2002
An iterative, Occam’s-style, regularized inverse approach was used to invert a finite-difference based forward model. The new algorithm was tested on existing data from several sites. The use of the anisotropic inversion algorithm produced images that are less prone to artifacts.

3-D Electrical Resistivity Tomography For Environmental Monitoring

9th EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 1996
Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) images the electrical properties of the subsurface using crosshole resistivity measurements. Interpretation of ERT data requires multi-dimensional inverse modeling. We discuss a 3-D Occam`s inversion routine. The routine uses a finite-element forward solution and a conjugate gradient based inverse routine.
