A new approach to quantify the reliability of Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) images

2023
Anthropogenic and natural hazards assessments need a good knowledge of the structures. A classical approach based on geological observations or soil mechanics investigations is often insufficient to characterize both the structures and the nature of subsurface materials.

Interrogation of a precipitation reaction by electrical resistance tomography (ERT)

AIChE Journal, 2005
AbstractElectrical resistance tomography (ERT) provides a noninvasive and nonintrusive technique for the full 3‐D interrogation of a typical stirred vessel reactor up to a spatial discrimination of approximately 2,500 derived data points. Some recent ERT results are presented for a newly refurbished 8 ring 16‐sensor 2.3 m3 pilot scale vessel, detecting

Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) applications to Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2013
Abstract Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) has the capability of offering time-evolving multidimensional comprehensive process knowledge, enrichment of fundamental process understanding and enhancement of the design and operation of process equipment by measuring the conductivity distribution within a process-plant of interest.

Electrical resistance tomography(ERT) by using an ECT sensor

2010 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques, 2010
A sensor typically used in electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) was generalized to reconstruct the conductivity distribution in this paper. Analytical model was established for the sensor. As a result, the sensitivity matrix and the electric field lines can be obtained directly by using the formulae, which are fast and simple.

Dynamic performance improvement of ERT system [electrical resistance tomography]

Proceedings of the 21st IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37510), 2004
Electrical resistance tomography (ERT) is the embranchment of process tomography (PT). In this paper, the bottleneck of system real-time performance is analysed. The dynamic performance of the system can be improved by increasing the signal frequency, placing the band pass filter (BPF) parallel and replacing the low pass filter (LPF) used to obtain the

Electric Resistivity Tomography (ERT) Measurements in Area of an Old Salt Mine

Proceedings, 2013
A large number of old salt exploitations are presently abandoned in Romania as a consequence of mine flooding, determining in many cases active subsidence and collapse. The geophysical study carried out in 2012 at Ocna Dej salt mine had as main objective the detailed illustration by means of ERT and VES resistivity data the actual extent of underground

Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) as a Tool for Monitoring Moisture Dynamics in Soil Filled Containers

20th EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 2006
The geophysical subproject of the multidisciplinary research group INTERURBAN (DFG 409), formed to investigate the water- and solutedynamics at urban locations with particular attention to spatial heterogeneity and biological transformation processes in the unsaturated zone, aims at the development of a noninvasive conception to map the water ...
