Elucidating the Supramolecular Interaction of Positively Supercharged Fluorescent Protein with Anionic Phthalocyanines

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Positively supercharged mGreenLatern protein is self‐assembled electrostatically with negatively charged zinc phthalocyanines to yield bio‐based photoactive materials in aqueous media. The addition of phthalocyanines results in the formation of large complexes fully quenching of the protein fluorescence. The results indicate an energy transfer from the

Hydrogel‐Based Capacitive Sensor Model for Ammonium Monitoring in Aquaculture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Traditional techniques for monitoring aquaculture water quality, particularly ammonium levels, harm fish. This work presents a novel capacitive sensor with an ionic hydrogel transducer to monitor ammonium concentration in real time based on the ammonium‐induced hydrogel dissociation and osmotic pressure. Monitoring aquaculture water quality, especially

Electricity generation by intermittent sources

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
This paper deals with the production of electricity by wind and photovoltaic (PV) power mostly in Germany. The German data of 2012 are scaled to a 100% supply of the electricity consumption by renewable sources.

Maillard Type Reaction for Electroless Copper Plating onto Ceramic Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the manufacturing of copper‐plated ceramic nanoparticles in an environmentally friendly way. Supported by organic functionalizations with pectin an electroless plating step can be performed. Sustainable reagents like xylose, and several amino acids are used for the reduction process.

About possibility to measure an electric dipole moment (EDM) of nuclei in the range $10^{-27} ÷10^{-32}$ $e \cdot cm$ in experiments for search of time-reversal violating generation of magnetic and electric fields [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
The possibility to measure an electric dipole moment (EDM) of nuclei in the range $10^{-27} \div 10^{-32}$ $e \cdot cm$ in experiments for search of time-reversal violating generation of magnetic and electric fields is discussed.

Net solar generation potential from urban rooftops in Los Angeles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Rooftops provide accessible locations for solar energy installations. While rooftop solar arrays can offset in-building electricity needs, they may also stress electric grid operations.

Impact of Iron Contamination on Liquid Properties and Microstructural Evolution in AlSi20

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Recycled aluminum is much more energy conservative and sustainable than primary aluminum. However, the iron contamination in secondary aluminum is vastly responsible for the degradation of the material properties. Herein, it is aimed to evaluate the influence of iron contamination in hypereutectic Al–Si alloy through thermodynamic as well as ...

A technical, economic, and greenhouse gas emission analysis of a homestead-scale grid-connected and stand-alone photovoltaic and diesel systems, against electricity network extension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This research compares two generation components in grid-connected and stand-alone power supply (SPS) systems (6 kWp solar photovoltaic array, and a 6 kWp diesel generator), separately supplying a homestead's electricity load (12 kWh day-1 average, 10 ...
