Multiscale Implications of Stress-Induced Ionic Polymer Transducer Sensing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ionic Polymer Transducers (IPTs) can act as both actuators and sensors. As actuators, the energy density values are much better than PZT or PVDF materials.

Selectivity Enhancement of Pesticide Biosensors via Polymer Coating

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Instrumentation and Measurement
This work investigated the effects of polymer films [chitosan (CS), Nafion (NF), and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)] on the performances of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) biosensors for the selectivity of pesticide types and their concentration levels using ...

Fast Hydrogel Micro‐Actuators Driven by Electric Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report the fabrication of chemically programmable electroactuating microstructures through the first integration of two‐photon polymerization with electrically actuated gelatin methacrylate‐based hydrogels. By tailoring the charge of the polymer network, we demonstrate programmable polarity‐dependent bending, enabling microstructures that ...

Bioengineered Interfaces for Peripheral Nerve Sensory Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Half of amputees abandon their prosthetics for lack of feeling. This review charts the full path from peripheral nerve injury to restored sensation, through surgical, regenerative, noninvasive, and implanted approaches, and shows how injury type and interface material properties determine which strategy can deliver naturalistic feedback, and why ...
