Electroacupuncture pretreatment enhances the calcium efflux activity of Na+/Ca2+ exchanger to attenuate cerebral injury by PI3K/Akt-mediated NCX1 upregulation after focal cerebral ischaemia

open access: yesHeliyon
Electroacupuncture pretreatment is considered as an optimal strategy for inducing cerebral ischaemic tolerance. However, the underlying neuroprotective mechanism of this approach has never been explored from the perspective of calcium homeostasis ...

Mechanisms of electroacupuncture effects on acute cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury: possible association with upregulation of transforming growth factor beta 1

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2016
Electroacupuncture at the head acupoints Baihui (GV20) and Shuigou (GV26) improves recovery of neurological function following ischemic cerebrovascular events, but its mechanism remains incompletely understood.

Differential roles of EA‐TRAPed cells in the anterior cingulate cortex across various intervention times in inflammatory pain

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 2, Page 329-343, February 2026.
The cumulative effect of EA analgesia is partially attributed to the activation of EA‐TRAPed cells in ACC. Multiple EA sessions and single EA sessions activated different neuronal populations in the ACC. The enhanced analgesic effect of multiple EA sessions may be attributed to an increase in the proportion of GABAergic neurons within the ACC. Abstract

Electroacupuncture stimulation improves pulmonary fibrosis by modulating ferroptosis in rats: multiscale analysis of transcriptome and proteome

open access: yesChinese Medicine
Background Idiopathic Pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive lung disease with poor survival. Electroacupuncture has been proven to improve dyspnea in IPF patients, but the mechanism remains unclear.

Electroacupuncture reduces apoptotic index and inhibits p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway in the hippocampus of rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2017
Electroacupuncture attenuates cerebral hypoxia and neuronal apoptosis induced by cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. To further identify the involved mechanisms, we assumed that electroacupuncture used to treat cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury was ...

Electroacupuncture on Baihui (DU20) and Xuehai (SP10) acupoints alleviates psoriatic inflammation by regulating neurotransmitter substance P- Neurokinin-1 receptor signaling

open access: yesJournal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine
Background: At present, acupuncture-related practices have been widely used to treat psoriasis. In our study, we investigated the effect and explored the mechanism of electroacupuncture (EA) on acupoints Baihui (DU20) and Xuehai (SP10) for the treatment ...

Effects of electroacupuncture frequencies on chronic low back pain in older adults: triple-blind, 12-months protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2019
Background Low back pain (LBP) is the most frequent complaint in clinical practice. Electroacupuncture treatment may be effective; however, the supporting evidence is still limited, especially in older adults.
