Atropine on the electrocardiogram
Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1969Six normal volunteers were given graded doses of atropine. Analysis by a computer indicated that R‐T duration, P‐R segment, and R‐R intervals of the electrocardiograms were correlated, whereas the duration of the P wave was not dose related or linked to heart rate.

The electrocardiogram in hyperparathyroidism∗
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1959Abstract The electrocardiographic changes in a case of hyperparathyroidism, before and after parathy-roidectomy, are illustrated and briefly discussed. The shortened Q-aT interval is confirmed as a readily measured index of shortened systole, characteristic of hypercalcemia.

Suspected transient loss of consciousness and syncope are common causes of hospitalization in older patients. Arrhythmias are the most common cardiac causes of syncope. Although a number of instrumental diagnostic procedures are usually routinely performed in patients with suspected syncope, a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is the only instrumental ...

Electrocardiogram of Pinnipeds
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1972SUMMARY Electrocardiograms were obtained from 6 pinnipeds, including 2 elephant seals (Mirounga angustirostris), 1 harbor seal (Phoca vitulina), and 3 California sea lions (Zalophus californianus). All had marked sinus arrhythmia with cardioacceleration during inspiration and slowing during expiration and respiratory pauses.

A 56-year-old female was hospitalized and her admission ECG differed from previous tracings. Knowledge of variant cardiac anatomy along with awareness of common pitfalls in ECG recording reveals the clinical diagnosis and explains the difference.

The Ischemic Electrocardiogram
Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America, 2022The electrocardiogram (EKG) is a useful diagnostic tool that allows clinicians to rapidly evaluate patients for acute coronary syndrome. With the high prevalence of heart disease in society, the EKG is crucial in the evaluation of chest pain and diagnosis of ischemia.

Calcium and the electrocardiogram
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1961Abstract The electrocardiograms of twenty-two patients with hypoparathyroidism were examined during hypocalcemia and compared to those obtained when normocalcemia was restored. Prolongation of the Q-oTc segment causing, thereby, prolongation of the Q-Tc interval was observed in almost all cases and the degree of prolongation was inversely ...

Abstract. Three patients are presented with T‐wave inversion after food intake. In all cases the ECG was normal in fasting condition and after exercise. Abnormal T‐waves are found during digitalis treatment, in electrolyte disturbances, and also during anxiety.

The prehospital electrocardiogram
The Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2001Although widely used in Europe, the prehospital 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) has seen only limited use in this country. Reported benefits of the 12-lead EKG include shortening the door-to-needle time, accelerating the initiation of reperfusion therapy, and overall improving the prehospital and hospital management and outcome of patients with acute ...
