Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Half-Cell Potential Analysis of an Ammonia Sensor with the Electrochemical Cell Au | YSZ | Au, V2O5-WO3-TiO2

open access: yesSensors, 2013
Half-cell potentials of the electrochemical cell Au, VWT | YSZ | Au are analyzed in dependence on oxygen and ammonia concentration at 550 °C. One of the gold electrodes is covered with a porous SCR catalyst, vanadia-tungstenia-titania (VWT).

The current distribution in an electrochemical cell. Part VII. Concluding remarks [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2002
Anew method for the determination of the ability of an electrolyte to distribute uniformly current density in an electrochemical cell is proposed. It is based on the comparison of the current in cells in which the electrode edges touch the cell side ...

Low-cost electrochemical impedance spectroscopy system for corrosion monitoring of metallic antiquities and works of art [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is recognized to be a powerful and noninvasive technique to test the integrity of protective coatings on memorials, but commercial EIS systems are rather costly though versatile devices. This paper describes a

Designer interphases for the lithium-oxygen electrochemical cell

open access: yesScience Advances, 2017
A demonstration of stable lithium-oxygen batteries based on high–donor number liquid electrolytes and an ionomer-protected anode. An electrochemical cell based on the reversible oxygen reduction reaction: 2Li+ + 2e− + O2 ↔ Li2O2, provides among the most ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Alkali metal carbon dioxide electrochemical system for energy storage and/or conversion of carbon dioxide to oxygen [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
An alkali metal, such as lithium, is the anodic reactant; carbon dioxide or a mixture of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide is the cathodic reactant; and carbonate of the alkali metal is the electrolyte in an electrochemical cell for the storage and ...

Electrocatalytic phenomena in gas phase reactions in solid electrolyte electrochemical cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The recent literature on electrocatalysis and electrocatalytic phenomena occurring in gas phase reactions on solid, oxygen conducting electrolytes is reviewed. In this field there are a number of different subjects which are treated separately. These are:

Role of the Carbon-Based Gas Diffusion Layer on Flooding in a Gas Diffusion Electrode Cell for Electrochemical CO2 Reduction

open access: yesACS Energy Letters, 2020
The deployment of gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) for the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) has enabled current densities an order of magnitude greater than those of aqueous H cells.

Unlocking Ultra‐Long Cycle Stability of Li Metal Electrode by Separators Modified by Porous Red Phosphorus Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Coating the standard polypropylene separator with a porous red phosphorous nanosheet greatly improves cycling performance in Li electrode cells. The phosphorus‐based surface chemistry deactivates electrolyte solvent decomposition and enhances the cleavage of F‐containing salt, resulting in an inorganic‐dominated electrolyte interphase (SEI) composition
