Electrochemical metrics for corrosion resistant alloys [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Data, 2021
AbstractCorrosion is an electrochemical phenomenon. It can occur via different modes of attack, each having its own mechanisms, and therefore there are multiple metrics for evaluating corrosion resistance. In corrosion resistant alloys (CRAs), the rate of localized corrosion can exceed that of uniform corrosion by orders of magnitude.

Effect of electro discharge machining (EDM) on the AISI316L SS white layer microstructure and corrosion resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The localised corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steels is strongly influenced by the quality of finished surface. EDM machining induces substantial changes by the high thermal gradients generated by electric sparks.

Evaluation of Performance of Grout Materials in Protection of Prestressing Steel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2008
Prestressing cables are widely used in huge constructions like buildings and bridges. Corrosion of prestressing steel is more dangerous than the corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete.

Cathodic Protection of Steel in Concrete Using Conductive Polymer Overlays

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2007
This paper presents the results of a study of the effectiveness of sacrificial anodes in preventing the onset of pitting corrosion in chloride contaminated concrete using zinc overlay and a conductive coating in cathodically protected chloride ...

Current application and development trend in electrochemical measurement methods for the corrosion study of stainless steels

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2020
Carbon steels are prone to a high level of corrosion when exposed to harsh environments. Stainless steels, having better corrosion resistance, are therefore, used in many applications to mitigate the high risk of failure due to corrosion.

Noninvasive Solution for Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy on Metallic Works of Art [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Metallic works of art of cultural relevance are continuously subjected to corrosion as the environment becomes increasingly polluted. A fast and simple method to in situ assess the conservation conditions is therefore required.

Simulating the galvanic coupling between S-Al2CuMg phase particles and the matrix of 2024 aerospace aluminium alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Study of the corrosion behaviour of a magnetron sputtered Al–Cu/Al–Cu–Mg model alloy couple in sulphate solutions has been undertaken to gain insight into the galvanic coupling between the matrix and SAl2CuMg particles in the 2024 aluminium alloy (AA2024)

Preferential weld corrosion of X65 pipeline steel in flowing brines containing carbon dioxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this research was to investigate the cause of the severe localised corrosion that sometimes occurs at welds in carbon steel pipelines carrying hydrocarbons and inhibited brines saturated with carbon dioxide.

Corrosion Protection of Mild Steel by the Synergetic effect of Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonates and Zinc Sulfate in Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
The corrosion inhibition of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonates surfactant (SDBS) and SDBS incorporated with various concentrations of zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) on mild steel, in 0.05 M NaCl at 25 oC were investigated using the electrochemical impedance ...
