Clinical Implications and Research Progress of Salivary Biomarkers for Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Similar to blood, saliva contains a broad range of biomarkers and may offer a non‐invasive, repeatable specimen for endocrine and metabolic assessment. This review aims to synthesise and evaluate recent advances in the clinical translation of salivary biomarkers, while providing a critical assessment of the diagnostic reliability and ...

Acute GIP and GLP‐1 Administration Exerts Differential Metabolic Effects in Totally Pancreatectomised Individuals

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims While being recognised for stimulating pancreatic insulin secretion, GIP and GLP‐1 exert various extrapancreatic effects relevant in the context of incretin‐based therapies. Here, we evaluated the extrapancreatic effects of GIP and GLP‐1, separately and combined, on postprandial physiology in totally pancreatectomised individuals ...

A Novel Diagnostic Approach for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Using Glycosylated Ferritin

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
The percentage of glycosylated ferritin relative to total ferritin (%GF) is a novel biomarker for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), showing diagnostic performance comparable to that of AFP and DCP. We developed the GFAD index by integrating age, sex, %GF, AFP, and DCP, achieving improved diagnostic accuracy with high sensitivity and specificity. ABSTRACT

Associations of finerenone with reduced insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease: A real‐world observational study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This real‐world observational study enrolled 256 patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (T2D‐CKD). After 12 months of finerenone treatment, 45 patients completed follow‐up. Finerenone was associated with significant improvements in insulin resistance markers (HOMA‐IR, TyG index), lipid profile (LDL‐C), glycemic control (HbA1c), and ...
