Electrochromic devices: A comparison of several systems
Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 1995Abstract The great variety of colour contrast achieved with electronically conducting polymers is the most significant characteristic of this class of ion-insertion organic materials. The performance of selected electrochromic devices based on electronically conducting polymers, with organic or inorganic materials as optically passive or ...

Optical constants of electrochromic films and contrast ratio of reflective electrochromic devices
Applied Optics, 2013This study investigates the optical constants of WO3 electrochromic films and NiO ion-storage films in bleached and colored states and that of a Ta2O5 film used as an ion conductor. These thin films were all prepared by electron-beam evaporation and characterized using a spectroscopic ellipsometer.

Nanowire-based electrochromic devices
Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 2007This report presents studies performed on high contrast electrochromic devices based on WO3 nanowires. The devices were made in two formats. The first kind was made with vertically oriented nanowires grown on fluorinated tin oxide (FTO) coated glass substrates using a low pressure hot filament CVD process.

A Tetramethyl Viologen for Aqueous Electrochromic Devices
ACS Applied Materials & InterfacesThe poor electrochemical reversibility of the dimers limits the application of viologens in aqueous electrochromic devices (ECDs). Here, we report a tetramethyl viologen, 2,2',6,6'-tetramethyl-4,4'-bipyridine hydrobromide ([MVH][Br]), in which tetramethyl substitution provides significant steric hindrance to prevent dimerization.

Electrochromic Display Devices
1976Several electrochromic displays have been proposed in the last ten years. In general they differ from other non-emissive display devices in that they are based on electrochemical reactions. Most of their principles are briefly mentioned. More attention is devoted to electrochromic display devices dealing with tungsten oxides and viologens, with special
