Human facial skin detection in thermal video to effectively measure electrodermal activity (EDA)
Proceedings of SPIE, 2011In the past, autonomic nervous system response has often been determined through measuring Electrodermal Activity (EDA), sometimes referred to as Skin Conductance (SC). Recent work has shown that high resolution thermal cameras can passively and remotely obtain an analog to EDA by assessing the activation of facial eccrine skin pores.

Skin conductance provides an inexpensive and nonreactive measure of electrodermal activity (EDA) that is widely used as an arousal indicator. When communication research employs real-world audiovisual stimuli, the measurement sensitivity of EDA-based data can become challenging.

Abstract Risk perception is known as a critical step in workers’ safety decision-making process. However, current approaches to assess workers’ perceived risk include surveys and interviews which are post hoc, subjective, and cumbersome to implement at construction sites.

Electro-Dermal Activity (EDA) is the change of electrical properties of the skin with respect to the sweat excretion, measured at the surface of the skin. By applying a small constant voltage, the variation of the Skin Conductance (SC) can be measured non-invasively.

We present a system where a simple and low-complexity classification algorithm is used to identify the stress of a person while driving a car, using EDA Skin Potential Response (SPR) measurements. An adaptive filter, which takes the steering wheel signal as a reference signal, is used to remove the motion artifacts that appear in the recorded SPR ...

Disability and Rehabilitation: Assistive Technology
The aim of this study was to explore the feasibility of using electrodermal activity (EDA) to detect changes in physiological arousal linked to perceptions of accommodations, focusing on universal design (UD) features. In environments like hotels, designers must consider wellness, social integration, and cultural appropriateness to effectively ...
