Implanted electrodes for multi-month EEG
2014 36th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2014An implanted electroencephalogram (EEG) recorder would help diagnose infrequent seizure-like events. A proof-of-concept study quantified the electrical characteristics of the electrodes planned for the proposed recorder. The electrodes were implanted in an ovine model for eight weeks. Electrode impedance was less than 800 Ohms throughout the study.

Impedance changes in chronically implanted and stimulated cochlear implant electrodes
Cochlear Implants International, 2013Electrode impedance increases following implantation and undergoes transitory reduction with onset of electrical stimulation. The studies in this paper measured the changes in access resistance and polarization impedance in vivo before and following electrical stimulation, and recorded the time course of these changes.Impedance measures recorded in (a)

Implantable Biofuel Cell Electrodes
2002Abstract : The objective of the project was the design of glucose electrooxidizing anodes and oxygen electroreducing cathodes for a miniature compartment-less and case-less biofuel cell powering sensor-transmitter and receiver-actuator systems implanted in animas.

Prevention of cochlear implant electrode damage
Current Opinion in Otolaryngology & Head & Neck Surgery, 2006As the current trend in cochlear implantation is to prescribe cochlear implants for patients with residual hearing and to use electroacoustic stimulation, cochlear implant damage must be prevented. This article summarizes current research endeavors to prevent electrode insertion trauma and resulting hearing loss.Alteration in surgical technique is ...
