Recent Progress in Quantitatively Monitoring Vesicular Neurotransmitter Release and Storage With Micro/Nanoelectrodes

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2021
Exocytosis is one of the essential steps for chemical signal transmission between neurons. In this process, vesicles dock and fuse with the plasma membrane and release the stored neurotransmitters through fusion pores into the extracellular space, and ...

Increased Cycling Efficiency and Rate Capability of Copper-coated Silicon Anodes in Lithium-ion Batteries

open access: yes, 2011
Cycling efficiency and rate capability of porous copper-coated, amorphous silicon thin-film negative electrodes are compared to equivalent silicon thin-film electrodes in lithium-ion batteries. The presence of a copper layer coated on the active material

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Electrochemical detection of TNT at cobalt phthalocyanine mediated screen-printed electrodes and application to detection of airborne vapours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We describe the use of cobalt phthalocyanine as a mediator to improve the sensitivity for the electrochemical detection of TNT. Commercial screen-printed electrodes containing cobalt phthalocyanine were employed for determination of TNT.

Comparison of electrode impedances of Pt, PtIr (10% Ir) and Ir-AIROF electrodes used in electrophysiological experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
In tissue impedance measurements with the 4-electrode assembly, unexpected difficulties may occur because a combination of electrode impedance and stray capacitance in the array of four electrodes, can lead to serious measuring failures in the low ...

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.
