Recovering nutrients from urine – A golden opportunity for sustainable fertiliser production
Agricultural industrialisation has led to levels of nutrients in the environment that are well above safe operating limits, yet fertiliser use is necessary to feed a growing population. The recovery of nutrients from human urine in large, developed cities may offset some of the ecological and economic impacts associated with fertiliser production, as ...

The electrophoretic membrane contactor: A mass-transfer-based methodology applied to the separation of whey proteins [PDF]
In the electrophoretic membrane contactor (EMC), a porous membrane is used to establish a contact across two flowing liquids between which an electrically driven mass transfer takes places.

Assisted reverse electrodialysis : a novel technique to decrease reverse osmosis energy demand [PDF]
Assisted reverse electrodialysis (ARED) was introduced as a pre-desalination technique for seawater reverse osmosis (RO) for drinking water production. ARED is comparable to an additional applied pressure along the osmotic pressure in pressure assisted ...

ELECTRODIALYSIS OF PEA SEEDS [PDF]
Electrodialysis differs from ordinary dialysis in that an electric current is passed through the dialyzing cell and the impressed electrical potential hastens the removal of ions from colloidal material. Consequently, electrolytes are removed faster and to a greater degree than by ordinary dialysis.

Electrochemical CO2 Reduction on a Bi–Sn Eutectic Alloy in Acidic Media for Formic Acid Production
Acidic CO2 electrolysis enables direct formic acid production with minimal (bi)carbonate formation. A eutectic Bi–Sn gas‐diffusion electrode achieves 81.3% faradaic efficiency (FE) at −100 mA cm−2 and pH 3, retaining selectivity up to −400 mA cm−2 and stable operation for 100 h with < 10% FE loss.
