ChemInform Abstract: ELECTROGENERATIVE OXIDATION OF SULFUR DIOXIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF OXYGEN

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1984

Electrogenic sulfur oxidation drives biogeochemical cycling of As and Co in the coastal seafloor

2016
Electrogenic sulfur oxidation (e-SOx) is a newly discovered pathway of microbial sulfide oxidation, mediated by so-called cable bacteria (Nielsen et al., 2010; Pfeffer et al., 2012). The reduction of oxygen near the sediment-water interface is coupled by long-distance electron transport to the oxidation of sulfide in deeper sediment, and in this way ...

Electrogenerative formation of ferric ions in a sulfur dioxide–sulfuric acid solution; Graphite catalysed sulfur dioxide oxidation

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1998
The electrogenerative oxidation of ferrous ions in 3m sulfuric acid, containing sulfur dioxide and subsequent sulfur dioxide oxidation, were studied in connection with potential regenerable sulfur dioxide remediation processes. The presence of sulfur dioxide in the feed stream did not affect cell performance.

Enhanced‐Surface‐Area Packed‐Bed Electrodes for Electrogenerative Oxidation of Sulfur Dioxide

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1992
Enhanced-surface-area packed-bed (ESAP) electrodes were designed and tested as anodes for aqueous SO 2 oxidation in electrogenerative SO 2 /O 2 cells. They were prepared by attaching high-area carbon particles, with deposited platinum electrocatalyst, to larger graphite particles.

Electrocatalytic activity of sulfur-modified platinum electrodes: selective electrogenerative oxidation of ethanol to ethyl acetate

Journal of Molecular Catalysis, 1987
Abstract Ethyl alcohol can be converted to ethyl acetate selectively at a reduced sulphur dioxide-treated porous platinum black anode in an electrochemical cell which generates D.C. power. The cell incorporates an acid electrolyte with an untreated porous platinum black/oxygen cathode. The reaction may be general for formation of esters from straight

Mathematical analysis and experimental results of applying enhanced-surface-area packed-bed electrodes in electrogenerative sulfur dioxide oxidation

Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1995
The results of applying enhanced-surface-area packed-bed (ESAP) electrodes in electrogenerative SO2/O2 cells are reported to illustrate their utility and potential applications. Mathematical analysis with parameters pertinent to the experimental conditions shows that all electrocatalyst sites in these electrodes are expected to be uniformly utilized ...
