An Electrokinetic Transducer

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1948
A description is given of a transducer which utilizes, for the transformation of sonic to electrical energy, the electrokinetic potential developed by the movement of a fluid through a porous solid. The construction and calibration of the transducer are discussed, and results of measurements of the pressure fluctuations in oil pipe lines are presented.

Electrokinetic Remediation

Particulate Science and Technology, 2001
Electrokinetic remediation, a technique in which DC electric current is applied to inert electrodes for the removal of contaminants from soils and wastes, is fast becoming a commercially viable process. The principles, a brief description of a novel experimental setup, the application of this technique to remove inorganic and organic species, and the ...

Electrokinetics

2023
Abstract The chapters concerns electrokinetic phenomena, treated in general and in the context of microfluidics. Bascic laws are reviewed. Electrokinetic equations are given, leading to Debye layer, elecroosmosis, sedimentation potential, electrophoresis, along with the various methods of separation used in the field, such as free ...

A novel electrokinetic micromixer

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2004
A novel microfluidic mixer based on the modulation of /spl zeta/-potential is proposed and demonstrated successfully. In contrast to previous micromixer work from other groups, this micromixer does not need complex three-dimensional serpentine microstructure or external pumps to generate chaotic advection pulsatile flow.

Electrokinetic Scanning Probe

Small, 2019
AbstractThe theoretical analysis and experimental demonstration of a new concept are presented for a non‐contact scanning probe, in which transport of fluid and molecules is controlled by electric fields. The electrokinetic scanning probe (ESP) enables local chemical and biochemical interactions with surfaces in liquid environments.

Electrokinetics

Up to now, we have only considered stationary or static charges, which are sources of electrostatic fields. Stationary charges are studied in electrostatics. Electrokinetics, on the other hand, is the branch of electromagnetism devoted to the study of electric currents (i.e.

Microemulsion Electrokinetic Chromatography

2008
Microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) is an attractive capillary electrophoretic technique in which a microemulsion is used as carrier electrolyte. Analytes may partition between the aqueous phase of the microemulsion and its oil droplets, which act as a pseudostationary phase. It is well suited for the separation of neutral analytes, but

Electrokinetics of metal cylinders

Physical Review E, 2019
We study theoretically the rotation induced on an uncharged metal nanocylinder immersed in an electrolyte by AC electric fields. We consider the rotation of the cylinder when subjected to a rotating electric field (electrorotation) and the orientation of the cylinder in an AC field with constant direction (electro-orientation). The cylinder rotation is

Electrokinetics on superhydrophobic surfaces

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2012
On a superhydrophobic surface a liquid is exposed to a large air-water interface. The reduced wall friction is expected to cause a higher electro-osmotic mobility. On the other hand, the low charge density of a superhydrophobic surface reduces the electro-osmotic mobility.
