A Simulation Study of Inhibition Assay With Theophylline on the Enzymatic Hydrolysis of p‐Nitrophenyl Phosphate With Alkaline Phosphatase in a Continuous Mode of Electrophoretically Mediated Microanalysis

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
Inhibition assays in in‐capillary continuous enzymatic reaction were simulated using a MATLAB matrix. The enzymatic hydrolysis of p‐nitrophenyl phosphate (S) with alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was adopted as a model enzymatic reaction, where theophylline (I) was used as a model inhibitor.

Micro fluidic cytometry for analysis of marine microorganisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Knowledge of the distribution and concentration of phytoplankton (microscopic algae that live in the oceans) is important, as this reflects and may modify environmentally important events such as pollution, climate change and carbon dioxide sequestration.

Electrokinetic energy conversion efficiency in nanofluidic channels. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We theoretically evaluate the prospect of using electrokinetic phenomena to convert hydrostatic energy to electrical power. An expression is derived for the energy conversion efficiency of a two-terminal fluidic device in terms of its linear ...

Electrokinetic properties of calcium aluminate hydrates [PDF]

open access: yesColloid and Polymer Science, 1978
The surface charge of Ca3Al2(OH)12 in water and NaOH solutions is negative when the solution is saturated towards this compound. When Ca3A12(OH)12 is formed during the reaction of Ca3A12O6 with water and NaOH solutions a positive surface charge is present. This positive charge is also found for other hydrates existing during this reaction; it indicates

Cyclodextrins as Chiral Selectors in Capillary Electrophoresis—Recent Developments in Understanding Analyte Complexation and Applications in Pharmaceutical Analysis

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
Cyclodextrins are the most often applied chiral selectors in CE enantioseparations. In combination with NMR spectroscopy and molecular modeling, studies for an understanding of chiral recognition underlying enantioseparations have been performed.

Surface pre-coating of talc particles by carboxyl methyl cellulose adsorption : study of adsorption and consequences on surface properties and settling rate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper investigates the adsorption of different sized carboxyl methyl cellulose (CMC) onto talc particles (adsorption isotherm, adsorption reversibility), its consequences on the particles properties (electrophoretic mobility and surface wetting) and

Comparison of adsorption affinity of ionic polyacrylamide for the surfaces of selected metal oxides

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2017
The influence of metal oxide type on the adsorption affinity of anionic polyacrylamide for the solid surface was studied. There were selected three metal oxides: chromium(III) oxide, zirconium(IV) oxide and aluminium(III) oxide.

Optimisation of Electrokinetic Extraction System: Colourimetric Determination of Copper (II) in Sand Using Polymer Inclusion Membrane

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
Electrokinetic extraction (EKE) allows the direct transfer of heavy metals from soli samples, such as soil and sediment, into a polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) with a colourimetric detection. This avoids length and complex sampling handling and extraction processes.

Protein‐Based High‐Performance Liquid Chromatography and Cyclodextrin‐Capillary Electrokinetic Chromatography for the Chiral Separation of Azoles

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
Human serum albumin‐based high‐performance liquid chromatography and cyclodextrin‐based capillary electrokinetic chromatography were used for the chiral separation of azoles. Although only two of the five tested azoles could be enantioseparated by liquid chromatography, all of them were separated by capillary electrokinetic chromatography using single ...
