Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Chaotic behaviors, stability, and solitary wave propagations of M-fractional LWE equation in magneto-electro-elastic circular rod

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering
This work studies the chaotic behaviors and solitary wave propagations for the M-fractional longitudinal wave equation (M-fLWE). Here, we explain some assertions of the M-fractional derivative.

Covariant Irreducible Parametrization of Electromagnetic Fields in Arbitrary Spacetime

open access: yes, 2006
We present a new unified covariant description of electromagnetic field properties for an arbitrary space-time. We derive a complete set of irreducible components describing a six-dimensional electromagnetic field from the Maxwell and metric tensors ...

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

A Current Sensing Cross-Component Induction Magnetometer for Use in Time-Domain Borehole Geophysical Electromagnetic Surveys

open access: yesSensors
Electromagnetic sensors are best defined by their linearity, signal sensitivity, and noise level. In borehole time-domain electromagnetics (TEM) the cross-components are defined as the two components perpendicular to the borehole’s axial direction ...

The investigation of electromagnetic precursors to earthquakes in Armenia

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1997
The present work provides a sufficient theoretical substantiation of the anomalous distribution for Very-Low-Frequency (VLF) radio waves which is observed for all radio routes controlled by the National Survey for Seismic Protection (NSSP) of the ...

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Copper–Tungsten Composites for Heat Sink Applications in High‐Power Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article demonstrates the successful qualification of a copper–tungsten composite for laser powder bed fusion. The resulting components exhibited high density, high thermal conductivity, and reduced thermal expansion. Heat sinks with complex geometries were successfully manufactured, clearly showcasing the material's potential for additive ...
