Electromagnetically Actuated FR4 Scanners

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2008
A torsional micromechanical scanner is fabricated from thin fire resistant 4 substrates using standard printed circuit board technology. The top and the bottom copper layers are connected with vias and shaped as a single coil to enable one- and two-dimensional electromagnetic actuation with an external magnet.

Case study of an electromagnetic actuator

2016 17th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC), 2016
The paper proposes both a behavioral model of the electromagnetic actuator and experimental results. An electromagnetic actuator structure is a system composed from coils and permanent magnets is presented. The electromagnetic actuators are used as: themselves for producing mechanical displacement and/or force generation, driving element for hydraulic ...

Network models of electromagnetic actuators

15th International Workshop on Research and Education in Mechatronics (REM), 2014
The paper presents network models that are used in the analysis and design of electromagnetic actuators. The attention is focused on the magnetic networks. Both permeance and reluctance networks are analyzed. The presented network models are formed using the finite element methods.

Numerical calculation of electromagnetic actuators

Archiv für Elektrotechnik, 1979
The paper describes a numerical method of calculating the magnetic fields, forces, inductances, and the dynamic behaviour of electromagnetic actuators. The solution of the non-linear partial differential equation for the magnetic vector potential is obtained by finite difference techniques using line iteration and acceleration of convergence.

The PemRam - an electromagnetic linear actuator

IEE Colloquium on Actuator Technology: Current Practice and New Developments, 1996
The PemRam was originally designed to replace hydraulics in vehicle simulators. Previously, only high-pressure fluid actuators could provide the bandwidth and precision that was needed for accurate motion simulation but they could not be used in confined spaces close to the general public.

Dynamic behaviour of electromagnetic actuators

European Transactions on Electrical Power, 1991
AbstractThis paper describes a numerical method of calculating the dynamic behaviour of electromagnetic actuators supplied by a voltage of any waveform. Moving parts, eddy currents caused by the time variable field and the relative velocity to the field as well as saturation of the magnetic circle are taken into account.

Electromagnetic actuation in MEMS switches

2015
Power electronics takes use of switches in order to convert and manage energy. The ideal switch with low power loss consists of electromechanic relays, but since they are bulky and expensive, semiconductors switches are more widely used for power electronic applications, resulting in power losses during energy conversion.
