Susceptibility of an Electromagnetic BandGap Filter
IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2010In a compact dual-planar electromagnetic (EM) bandgap (EBG) microstrip structure, patches are etched periodically in the ground plane to prohibit the propagation of EM waves in certain frequency bands so as to provide filtering functionality. However, the existence of the etched patches in the ground plane becomes a concern in terms of EM compatibility

An electromagnetic bandgap resonator antenna
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2002This paper introduces a new explanation of the electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) material properties using the study of the EBG structures in the frequency domain and reciprocal space. Once the behavior of such a material is understood, the properties of the EBG are used in order to make an EBG antenna. The antenna is realized with dielectric EBG rods. Its

Modeling of an electromagnetic bandgap antenna
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2018AbstractAn equivalent circuit is developed for an electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) antenna that can provide a mathematically simple means for calculating the antenna's input impedance. The model predicts a −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 0.42 GHz which is validated against simulated and measured values of 0.50 GHz and 0.51 GHz, respectively.

Surface‐wave bandgap of polarization dependent electromagnetic bandgap structures
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2007AbstractPolarization‐dependent reflection‐phase feature could be realized by using a rectangular patch in mushroom‐like electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures. The surface‐wave bandgap of this polarization‐dependent EBG structure have been investigated in this article.

Electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) waveguides formed in a two-dimensionally periodic lattice of capacitive metal cylinders located between two metal screens are considered. The cylinders have a gap between one of the ends and the screen. It is shown that the lower critical frequencies of such waveguides are shifted upwards in comparison with the ...

Increasing the immunity to electromagnetic interferences in a bandgap voltage reference
Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003In this paper a bandgap reference cell with low susceptibility to electromagnetic interferences is presented. The circuit, based on a classical architecture, is modified by using a symmetrical topology amplifier in the output stage leading to a robust electromagnetic immunity, still preserving good performances in the overall bandgap circuit.

Electromagnetic-Bandgap Waveguide for the Millimeter Range
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2010This paper presents the design, manufacturing, and characterization of a waveguide based on electromagnetic-bandgap (EBG) technology working in W-band. A modified silicon EBG woodpile structure was used in order to improve the matching performance of the EBG waveguide to a standard rectangular waveguide.

Relativistic vircator with an electromagnetic bandgap medium
2015 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Sciences (ICOPS), 2015The virtual cathode oscillator (vircator) can be one of the most promising high-power microwave sources due to its conceptual simplicity, high-output power capability, and potential tunability. Microwaves can be generated when the current of an intense relativistic electron beam exceeds the space-charge-limiting current of the structure.

A novel electromagnetic bandgap groundplane design
2004 10th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics and URSI Conference, 2004This paper describes a novel groundplane that could be classified as a defected groundplane; however, instead of introducing holes (defects), the groundplane is grooved. A gridwork of grooves works with a dielectric layer above it to create regions of alternate high and low permittivity that form a periodic pattern, similar to designs with dielectric ...

Reconfigurable Stealth Antenna Based On Electromagnetic Bandgap
2021 IEEE MTT-S International Wireless Symposium (IWS), 2021In the current complex electronic countermeasures environment, the antenna greatly restricts the performance of the aircraft. A ferrite reconfigurable stealth antenna based on electromagnetic bandgap structure is designed in this paper. By controlling the intensity or position of the bias magnetic field of the ferrite, the frequency band and pattern of
