Modeling and Simulation of Electromagnetic Field of Electromagnetic Coil Launcher
IEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2021Electromagnetic coil launcher is a kind of special linear motor. In order to study the trigger principles of multi‐stage electromagnetic coil launcher, based on the electromagnetic field theory, the paper deduced the field‐circuit coupling magnetic field control equations of multi‐stage synchronous inductive coil with the consideration of inter‐stage ...

Solid-projectile helical coil electromagnetic launcher
2007 16th IEEE International Pulsed Power Conference, 2007Summary form only given. Helical coil electromagnetic launchers (HCEML's) can operate at significantly lower currents and higher efficiency in comparison to conventional railgun and induction coilgun launchers. The HCEML's versatility is due, in part, to its large inductance gradient which is typically 2 to 3 orders of magnitude greater than a ...

Optimized electromagnetic coil design theory
Proceedings IEEE Southeastcon '92, 2003The authors review the general theory of electromagnetic coil design, the starting point for which is the Biot-Savart equation, which expresses the relationship between current distribution and the resultant static magnetic field. They introduce a reformalization of the Biot-Savar equation which provides for the general design of electromagnetic coils ...

Electromagnetic Forming with Solenoid Coil
2015 Seventh International Conference on Measuring Technology and Mechatronics Automation, 2015A loose coupling method is proposed to analyze electromagnetic forming with solenoid coil. Analysis of electromagnetic field is conducted by ANSYS/Emag, structural field is solved by explicit module ANSYS/Lsdyna, and data transfer from electromagnetic field o structural field is realized by APDL program Time-space distribution of magnetic pressure and ...

Quench Detection Method for HTS Coils Using Electromagnetically Coupled Coils
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2015Generally, in order to detect the quench of the superconducting field coil for the superconducting rotating machine, signal wires for voltage taps are indispensably needed. However, the problem of the conventional method is wire twisting as the superconducting field coil rotates.

Thermal analysis of electromagnetic levitation coil
2016 17th International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2016This paper presents analytical and numerical thermal analysis of three different toroidal coils levitated on an aluminum plate. The analytical method consists of a network of thermal resistances that make it possible to estimate the average temperature of the coils.

Continuous electromagnetic launcher using soleniod coil
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1987This paper describes the characteristics of the continuous electromagnetic launcher as a linear electromagnetic actuator capable of allowing a magnetic substance like a steel ball to move at high speed. The launcher employs magnetic field generated within a solenoid to produce large, instantaneous thrust. This paper discusses the characteristics of the

The second derivative of the axial magnetic flux density is found to vanish for an electromagnet composed of three circular coaxial coils if the spacing between adjacent coils is a, if each coil contains equal ampere turns, if the radii of the end coils are a, and if the radius of the center coil is ∼5a/4.

Optimized coils for electromagnetic induction systems
SPIE Proceedings, 2013Electromagnetic induction (EMI) systems often use separate transmit and receive coils. In these systems, it is desirable for the transmit and receive coils to have minimal mutual coupling and a maximum eld product, thus maximizing the detection depth. We demonstrate that a pair of spiral coils can be optimized to achieve these desired properties.
