Implementation of optimized electromagnetic induction coils

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
Electromagnetic induction (EMI) systems often employ separate transmit and receive coils that are placed in close proximity to one another. This placement is desirable for packaging reasons, but it makes achieving minimal mutual coupling between the two coils difficult.

Electromagnetic actuator for voice coil

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
An electromagnetic actuator for linear driving of movable heads of a magnetic disc unit in an information processing system. A plurality of slits or plates are provided with a magnetic pole inscribed directly on the internal surface of a permanent magnet, and increase magnetic reluctance of the magnetic path and reduce inductance of a moving coil, thus

Design and testing of a coil-unit barrel for helical coil electromagnetic launcher

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2018
A coil-unit barrel for a helical coil electromagnetic launcher is described. It provides better features of high structural strength and flexible adjustability. It is convenient to replace the damaged coil units and easy to adjust the number of turns in the stator coils due to the modular design.

A Versatile Laboratory Electromagnet With HTS Coils

IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 2004
We report the development of a laboratory electromagnet utilizing high temperature superconducting (HTS) coils which is designed to generate fields in excess of 3 Tesla, but with power consumption and size significantly below that possible with copper-wound coils for an equivalent useful field volume.

Electromagnetic force analysis of a driving coil

2012 16th International Symposium on Electromagnetic Launch Technology, 2012
Electromagnetic force (EMF) analysis and configuration design of a driving coil is quite important for a coil launcher. Lots of efforts have been focused on armature and control system to improve efficiency or interior ballistic characteristic. By contrast, EMF performance of a driving coil is rarely researched.

Electromagnetic Force Control System of Solenoidal Coil

2018 37th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2018
This paper focuses on studies of electromagnetic force control system of solenoid coil electromagnetic field. The mathematical relationship of electromagnetic force with power supply current of solenoid electromagnetic coil is derived. The control system of electromagnetic force is constructed, which includes an adjustable PWM power supply and a ...

Optimal Coil Currents in Electromagnetic Flow Tomography

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2017
Electromagnetic flow meters are a gold standard in measuring the mean flow velocity of conductive liquids and slurries in process industry. A drawback of this approach is that the velocity field cannot be determined. Velocity field information is important for characterizing multiphase flows in the process industry.

Multi-Axis Electromagnetic Moving-Coil Micro-Actuator

Design Engineering and Computers and Information in Engineering, Parts A and B, 2006
This paper presents the design and proposed fabrication of an electromagnetic (EM) micro-actuator capable of independent force output in two orthogonal axes of motion. This actuator enables independently controlled in- and out-of-plane motion when coupled with a suitable flexure. An electromagnetic force model is presented.
