Research on the Scaling Model of Electromagnetic Coil Launcher

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2013
A model experiment is an effective method to investigate the working characteristics of electromagnetic coil launcher (EMCL). Results from the model experiment are applied to the prototype study of EMCL, after the scaling relations of physical quantities between model and prototype are determined.

The 900 kN electromagnetic press with superconducting coils

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1996
Load-generating facilities based on the interaction of electromagnetic coils are, as a rule, compact and easily controllable. These are, for example, the electromagnetic presses intended for mechanical tests of various materials. A press with superconducting coils allows such testing at cryogenic temperatures.

Design formulas for electromagnetic sensing coils

Geoexploration, 1967
Abstract It is demonstrated that for a certain class of electromagnetic sensing coils the geometry and weight of the device are essentially determined by the signal-to-noise ratio desired. The number of turns and the wire gauge are principally related to the required source impedance.

Continuous electromagnetic launcher using soleniod coil

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1987
This paper describes the characteristics of the continuous electromagnetic launcher as a linear electromagnetic actuator capable of allowing a magnetic substance like a steel ball to move at high speed. The launcher employs magnetic field generated within a solenoid to produce large, instantaneous thrust. This paper discusses the characteristics of the

Electromagnetic Analysis of the ITER Upper VS Coil

Journal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism, 2013
In order to control the plasma vertical stability of ITER, a novel magnet is developed, that is the vertical stability coil. The coil is located in the vacuum vessel and its safe operation is very important for ITER’s reliable working. During the normal operation, the coil should bear the electromagnetic force caused by the external superconducting ...

Optimal design of the coils of an electromagnetic flow meter

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1998
A new method of optimal design of the excitation coil for an electromagnetic flow meter is presented, The main goal is to form an algorithm which will be able to deal with natural channels of any shape with conductive beds/banks. The presented method allows an engineer to design an optimal coil to obtain homogeneity of the special weight vector W. This

Electromagnetic Coil Gun – Construction and Basic Simulation

2014
A single-stage, sensorless, coil gun was designed to demonstrate the capability to accelerate a ferromagnetic projectile to high velocity. This paper summarizes all important steps during coil gun design, such as physical laws of the coil gun, preliminary calculations, the testing device and the final product.
