Threshold enhancement and the flavor-changing electromagnetic vertex

Physical Review Letters, 1990
We analyze the evolution of the flavor-changing electromagnetic vertex as a function of the external initial quark mass {ital m}{sub {ital e}}, in the three-generation standard model. We find a substantial threshold enhancement in the vertex, to one-loop order, when {ital m}{sub {ital e}} is of the order of the mass of the {ital W} boson. We comment on

Field Enhancement with Classical Electromagnetically Induced Transparency

2014
A key challenge in the design of tunable and nonlinear metamaterials is creating large local electromagnetic fields to enhance the nonlinear interaction. An attractive way to achieve local field enhancement is the use of metamaterials with dark resonators, i.e., with meta-atoms that do not directly couple to the external field.

Electromagnetic Raman Enhancement Beyond Gap Limit

Physical Review Letters
Surface-enhanced Raman scattering is of great importance to trace-level detection with fingerprint information of analytes. However, there is no room for electric dipole enhancement mechanism to further improve the enhancement factor and detect macromolecules. Here, we break the limits by electric multipoles with anapole states, as well as bound states

The Electromagnetic Theory of Surface Enhanced Spectroscopy

Annual Review of Physical Chemistry, 1984
Surface enhanced spectroscopy (SES) was born in 1 974 with the measure ment of Raman spectra of molecules adsorbed on a roughened electrode surface (la-e). Given the smallness of the Raman cross section, the detection of a Raman signal should have generated some excitement. This did not happen, but was delayed until 1977 when Jeanmaire & van Duyne (2)

Finding electromagnetic and chemical enhancement factors of surface-enhanced Raman scattering

Optics Letters, 2007
The authors report two methods to determine electromagnetic and chemical enhancement factors in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), which are based on saturation property and decay dynamics of photoluminescence and concurrent measurements of photoluminescence and resonance Raman scattering intensities.

Surface-Enhanced Electromagnetic Processes

1984
Publisher Summary The chapter presents a study on surface- enhanced electromagnetic processes. The chapter discusses evidence that an electromagnetic mechanism involving localized surface plasmons provides a very important contribution to the enhancement.

ENHANCEMENT OF ELECTROMAGNETIC ANOMALIES BY A CONDUCTING OVERBURDEN*

Geophysical Prospecting, 1972
AbstractThe effect of a conducting overburden on the electromagnetic response of sulphide ore‐bodies has been studied with the help of quantitative electromagnetic model experiments. These experiments were conducted at a fixed, crystal controlled, frequency of 100 kHz using a number of transmitter‐receiver configurations, though the results discussed ...

An application-enhanced approach to introductory electromagnetics

IEEE Transactions on Education, 1998
This paper describes an application-enhanced approach to teaching fundamental concepts in electromagnetics at the introductory undergraduate level. A numerical tool with interactive visualization is used to aid in the presentation of engineering applications that are used to motivate basic electromagnetic concepts.
