Advancing Electronic Application of Coordination Solids: Enhancing Electron Transport and Device Integration via Surface‐Mounted MOFs (SURMOFs)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

Observation of the thermal Casimir force

open access: yes, 2010
Quantum theory predicts the existence of the Casimir force between macroscopic bodies, due to the zero-point energy of electromagnetic field modes around them.

Quantitative modeling of forces in electromagnetic tweezers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2010
This paper discusses numerical simulations of the magnetic field produced by an electromagnet for generation of forces on superparamagnetic microspheres used in manipulation of single molecules or cells. Single molecule force spectroscopy based on magnetic tweezers can be used in applications that require parallel readout of biopolymer stretching or ...

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

A test of the electromagnetic theory of the hydrogen vortices surrounding sun-spots [PDF]

open access: yes, 1925
The extensive fields of force shown by the spectroheliograph in the hydrogen atmosphere surrounding sun-spots have been explained in two different ways: (1) as true hydrodynamical vortices, resembling great tornadoes, and (2) as electromagnetic phenomena,

Gravity and the Quantum Vacuum Inertia Hypothesis

open access: yes, 2005
In previous work it has been shown that the electromagnetic quantum vacuum, or electromagnetic zero-point field, makes a contribution to the inertial reaction force on an accelerated object.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Influence of current harmonic on electromagnetic force and forced vibration in converter-fed Canned Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Electrical Engineering
Canned Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (CPMSMs) are essential components in vacuum pump systems. The stator can of CPMSMs is susceptible to deformation due to thermal stress and high-frequency harmonic electromagnetic force, leading to potential ...

On the electromagnetic force on a polarizable body

open access: yes, 2001
The force on a macroscopic polarizable body in an inhomogenous electromagnetic field is calculated for three simple exactly solvable situations. Comparing different approaches we pinpoint possible pitfalls and resolve recent confusion about the force ...
