Analytical Force Determination in an Electromagnetic Actuator

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2005
An original analytical determination of the force acting on the moving coil in an electromagnetic actuator is presented. The actuator magnetic field is solved analytically using the Schwarz-Christoffel (SC) mapping. The SC integral is solved analytically using the elliptic functions.

Electromagnetic levitation forces

British Journal of Applied Physics, 1965
The theorem that a generator, when connected to a system capable of doing mechanical work, supplies during the motion an amount of energy of which half appears as an increase in the energy of the system and half is used in the performance of mechanical work, is applied to prove that the force in any direction x between a coil carrying an alternating ...

Electromagnetism as an inertial force

Lettere Al Nuovo Cimento Series 2, 1973
Iner t ia l motion. I t is possible to describe electromagnetism as well as gravitation as an inertial force? This should mean that the trajectory of a test particle of any charge q and mass m, subject only to gravitational and e.m. (electromagnetic) forces, should be universal independent of q and m a n d invariant ly defined in a basic geometry for ...

Electromagnetic Force Transducers

2011
Sensing magnetic fields has evolved from ancient navigation purposes to the increasing need for improved sensitivity, smaller form factor, compatibility with modern electronic systems within airport security and structural stability [7.1].

An analysis of electromagnetic forces

Electrical Engineering, 1945
Certain concepts of physics and electromagnetism conflict on several points, chiefly because of the latter's lack of general equations for the reaction of electrical particles. In this article the author introduces a few fundamental electrodynamic concepts and deduces from them some of the commonly used formulas for forces exerted on current-carrying ...

Electromagnetic Forces and Energy

1984
The evaluation of the electromagnetic forces and torques exerted on bodies in motion is of central importance to the power engineer. When the body is in uniform translation the most efficient way of obtaining the forces is normally by use of “frame hopping”.

Electromagnetic Induction and Forces

1988
This chapter is concerned with mechanical forces in magnetised systems and consequently with changes in magnetic field energy when mechanical movement occurs in the system.
