Coupling Experiment and Simulation in Electromagnetic Forming Using Photon Doppler Velocimetry [PDF]

open access: yes
Modeling electromagnetic forming processes is in many ways simpler than modeling traditional metal forming processes. In electromagnetic forming the problem is often dominated by inertial acceleration by a magnetic field.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Response of Thin Sheet Metal on the Excitation in Electromagnetic Forming

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2022
Due to their low inertia, vibrations are stimulated during electromagnetic forming of thin sheets, whereby the excitation might involve the impact on the die and the oscillation of the electromagnetic forces.

Robocasting of a Water‐Based Biopolymer/WO3 Nanopowder Paste as a Precursor to Tungsten Carbide Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a novel, additive manufacturing approach to produce complex, porous tungsten carbide structures using water‐based direct ink writing/robocasting. Leveraging a modified commercial printer and heat treatment, the process yields lightweight, electrically conductive 3D architectures capable of supporting a mechanical load.

Nonlinear Electromagnetic Waves in Magnetosphere of a Magnetar

open access: yes, 2010
We compute electromagnetic wave propagation through the magnetosphere of a magnetar. The magnetosphere is modeled as the QED vacuum and a cold, strongly magnetized plasma.
