A Tracer Diffusion Study of Diverse Photo‐Ionic Phenomena in Strontium Titanate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two strong interfacial photo‐ionic effects are demonstrated for the model system SrTiO3 through the application of isotope exchange experiments: UV illumination is found to enhance the oxygen surface exchange coefficient by several orders of magnitude and to depress the surface space‐charge potential substantially.

Detector measures power in 50 to 30,000 GHz radiation band [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Broadband power detector assembly measures electromagnetic radiation in the 50 to 30,000 GHz band. The assembly includes a matched pair of detectors which incorporate thin-film radiation absorbers.

Synergistic Compatibilization of CsPbBr3 Perovskites and HfO2 Nanocrystals for Hybrid Sensitized Nanoscintillators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals are promising scintillators but suffer from reabsorption losses and limited compatibility with high‐Z additives. Hybridization of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals with PbBr2‐passivated HfO2 nanoparticle sensitizers, achieved during or after synthesis, produces stable composites with maintained optical quality, improved ...

Electromagnetic radiation produced by avalanches in the magnetization reversal of Mn12-Acetate

open access: yes, 2003
Electromagnetic radiation produced by avalanches in the magnetization reversal of Mn12-Acetate has been measured. Short bursts of radiation have been detected, with intensity significantly exceeding the intensity of the black-body radiation from the ...

Electron–Matter Interactions During Electron Beam Nanopatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article reviews the electron–matter interactions important to nanopatterning with electron beam lithography (EBL). Electron–matter interactions, including secondary electron generation routes, polymer radiolysis, and electron beam induced charging, are discussed.

Electromagnetic radiation produces frame dragging

open access: yes, 2012
It is shown that for a generic electrovacuum spacetime, electromagnetic radiation produces vorticity of worldlines of observers in a Bondi--Sachs frame.

Hybrid Microdiscs for Magnetically Induced Non‐Cytotoxic Thermal Actuation and Programmable Biomolecule Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid magnetic microdiscs with customizable size and composition are engineered through refined photolithography and LbL assembly. Embedded Fe3O4 nanoparticles enable localized, non‐cytotoxic heating, while protein cargos can be incorporated in tunable quantities.

Out-of-equilibrium electromagnetic radiation

open access: yes, 2003
We derive general formulas for photon and dilepton production rates from an arbitrary non-equilibrated medium from first principles in quantum field theory.

Switchable Thermal Mid‐IR Conducting Polymer Antenna Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents switchable mid‐infrared plasmonic resonances in PEDOT antenna arrays. Their optical extinction peaks can be reversibly switched ‘OFF’ and ‘ON’ by tuning the polaronic charge carrier concentration via the polymer's redox state, offering modulation of optical responses in the thermal mid‐infrared range including around 10 µm ...
