Electromagnetic multipole radiation

Annals of Physics, 1957
Abstract This paper gives a derivation of the electromagnetic multipole radiation formulas which emphasizes the parallel between the radial problem for photons and the radial problem for Schrodinger or Dirac particles. The Maxwell equations are rewritten in Hamiltonian form, simultaneous cigenfunctions of the square of the angular momentum operator ...

Radiation of Electromagnetic Waves

2017
In the previous chapters, we learned that electromagnetic waves can propagate in free space of an infinite extent and that these same waves can also 240 300 270 propagate along a common transmission line. A question that remains to be answered is whether the same electromagnetic waves can be excited in a finite region and then be launched or radiated ...

The definition of electromagnetic radiation

Il Nuovo Cimento, 1961
Momentum and energy of electromagnetic radiation emitted from a charge are Lorentz-covariantly defined. The non-local measurement of a Lorentz inlariant, the rate of radiation energy emission is proposed as a necessary and sufficient criterion for the emission of radiation at a gilen time.

Sensing by Electromagnetic Radiation

2013
Electromagnetic radiation lends itself to non-contact sensing of many soil- and crop properties. The basis for this is that theoretically any matter – including constituents of soils and crops – can be identified by an electromagnetic index that is derived from its radiation.

ON FOCUSING ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATORS

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1957
The transmission of electromagnetic energy between two apertures is examined as a function of their sizes, separation, excitation functions, and surface shapes with Fresnel approximations made throughout. Relations are derived which show when it is advantageous to focus the apertures by curving about a spherical surface.

Classical Electromagnetic Radiation

Physics Bulletin, 1966
J. B. Marion New York: Academic Press. 1965. Pp. xv + 479. Price 86s. As the author says, there exists a vast literature of general works on electricity and magnetism. This book extracts and organizes the topics most relevant to radiation theory, and presents them to the student who is equipped with the basic physical facts and the basic mathematical ...
