Electromagnetic scattering in clouds [PDF]

open access: yes
Techniques used to explain the nature of the optical effects of clouds on the light produced by lightning include a Monte Carlo simulation, an equivalent medium approach, and methods based on Boltzmann transport theory.

Compton Scattering and Generalized Polarizabilities

open access: yes, 2004
In recent years, real and virtual Compton scattering off the nucleon have attracted considerable interest from both the experimental and theoretical sides.

Encoding Magnetic Anisotropies in Digital Light Processing 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid magnetic device—combining a coaxial coil within a nested Halbach array—is presented, integrated into a DLP 3D printer to enable spatially resolved magnetic field control. This system enables complex, multimodal responses by programming liquid crystal elastomer resins for magnetic and thermal actuation, and by inducing electrically conductive ...

Chiral SURMOFs for Vibrational Circular Dichroism: Multiscale Modeling and Experimental Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The use of solid‐state vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) for MOFs is still somewhat unexplored, and in this work, it is shown that chiral surface‐anchored MOFs (SURMOFs) grown on CaF2 provide an excellent platform for VCD. Experimental results are validated through multiscale modeling, showing strong agreement across multiple spectroscopic ...

All‐Aqueous Pullulan Fibers Enabling Visible‐to‐Near‐Infrared Waveguiding with Mechanical and Thermal Resilience

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Pullulan, a biomass‐derived polysaccharide, is transformed into transparent optical fibers using a solvent‐free borax hydrogel‐spinning method. The fibers outperform PMMA with ≈200 MPa tensile strength and 200 °C stability, while uniquely guiding visible‐to‐NIR light and enabling additive‐free humidity sensing.

Motion Compensation and 3-D Imaging Algorithm in Sparse Flight Based Airborne Array SAR

open access: yesLeida xuebao, 2018
In this study, we adopt a criterion of Barker code to generate a high-resolution image from sparse flight samples to establish a three-dimensional (3-D) imaging model of airborne array SAR.

Phenomenology of the Deuteron Electromagnetic Form Factors

open access: yes, 2000
A rigorous extraction of the deuteron charge form factors from tensor polarization data in elastic electron-deuteron scattering, at given values of the 4-momentum transfer, is presented.
