Iron(III) ion reinforced P(NiPAAm‐co‐AA) beads as tunable smart organogels

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Macroporous beads of PNiPAAm‐co‐AA copolymers were further crosslinked by iron(III) ions. The resulting beads are mechanically robust and reversibly responsive to a change of solvent from ethanol to ethyl acetate with half‐lives in the range of minutes.

Validation of Electrostrictive Performance of P(VDF‐TrFE‐CFE) for kHz Range Applications

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the high‐frequency deformation of the relaxor ferroelectric polymer P(VDF–TrFE–CFE) is governed by Maxwell's electrostriction, confirming its suitability for fast electromechanical applications. Combining original high‐frequency mechanical characterization, laser vibrometry measurements, and numerical modeling, a ...

A Compact Annular Electrostatic Clutch Joint: Dynamic Response Modeling and Time‐Sharing Control for Underactuated Robots

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
Electrostatic clutches offer programmable variable stiffness for multi‐DOF robots, but their continuous motion is usually bottlenecked by spatial constraints and detachment delays. Here, the authors report a compact annular electrostatic clutch joint with a biphasic amplitude‐frequency modulation strategy to rapidly mitigate residual polarization ...

Laser‐Direct Printed 2D Material‐Based Heterostructure for the Fabrication of Electronic Devices

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The Digital Laser‐Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT) approach is employed to pattern and stack 2D materials with micrometer‐scale precision. PdSe2 and MoSe2 are assembled into vertical p–n junctions, with graphene serving as a transparent electrode. The resulting laser‐transferred heterostructures exhibit high material quality and stable rectifying ...

Dual‐Functionality, Bio‐Friendly Artificial Muscles for Actuation and Motion Sensing in Smart Wearable Systems

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This work presents a biofriendly carbon nanotube yarn artificial muscle operating either as an in‐air unipolar actuator or as a self‐powered ionotronic strain sensor. Using a non‐volatile eutectogel‐derived electrolyte, the system achieves up to 2.9% contraction and 0.5 mV/% strain sensing sensitivity.

Interferometric Vector Piezoresponse Force Microscopy for Simultaneous Ferroelectric Domain and Crystallographic Orientation Mapping in Uniaxial Ferroelectric Polycrystals

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Interferometric vector piezoresponse force microscopy is used to reconstruct crystallographic grain orientations in polycrystalline ferroelectrics directly from local electromechanical response. The approach reveals grain orientation, polarization direction, and domain structure simultaneously, establishing a pathway toward EBSD‐like orientation ...
