Abstract Among the methods used in structural health monitoring (SHM), the electromechanical impedance technique (EMI), which uses piezoelectric transducers of lead zirconate titanate (PZT), stands out for its low cost. Then, this paper presents a new approach for monitoring of the dressing operation from the digital processing of voltage signals ...

Crack Identification in Necked Double Shear Lugs by Means of the Electro-Mechanical Impedance Method
This contribution investigates fatigue crack detection, localization and quantification in idealized necked double shear lugs using piezoelectric transducers attached to the lug shaft and analyzed by the electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) method.

Electromechanical Impedance-Based Damage Detection Using Machine Learning Approaches
Electromechanical impedance-based structural health monitoring has been the subject of extensive research in recent decades. The method’s low cost and ability to detect minor structural damages make it an appealing alternative to other non-destructive ...

Interface monitoring of steel-concrete-steel sandwich structures using piezoelectric transducers
Steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich structures have important advantages over conventional concrete structures, however, bond-slip between the steel plate and concrete may lead to a loss of composite action, resulting in a reduction of stiffness and ...

Numerous techniques of non-destructive testing (NDT) of structural parts of CFRP are investigated. In this paper electromechanical impedance (EMI) technique is studied as an NDT tool for assessment of adhesive bonds. In order to perform the assessment a surface mounted piezoelectric sensor is used.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.
