Time-domain Analysis Based on the Electromechanical Impedance Method for Monitoring of the Dressing Operation

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2018
Abstract Among the methods used in structural health monitoring (SHM), the electromechanical impedance technique (EMI), which uses piezoelectric transducers of lead zirconate titanate (PZT), stands out for its low cost. Then, this paper presents a new approach for monitoring of the dressing operation from the digital processing of voltage signals ...

Locating Damage Using Integrated Global-Local Approach with Wireless Sensing System and Single-Chip Impedance Measurement Device

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
This study developed an integrated global-local approach for locating damage on building structures. A damage detection approach with a novel embedded frequency response function damage index (NEFDI) was proposed and embedded in the Imote2.NET-based ...

Anchor Force Monitoring Using Impedance Technique with Single-Point Mount Lead-Zirconate-Titanate Interface: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesBuildings, 2021
As a key load-bearing element in a prestressed structure, the anchor should be appropriately monitored to secure its as-built prestressing force. In previous studies, the impedance-based prestress force monitoring technique through a mountable lead ...

Interface monitoring of steel-concrete-steel sandwich structures using piezoelectric transducers

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2019
Steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich structures have important advantages over conventional concrete structures, however, bond-slip between the steel plate and concrete may lead to a loss of composite action, resulting in a reduction of stiffness and ...

Electromechanical Impedance Method For Assessment Of Adhesive Bonds Of Cfrp At The Production And Repair Stage

open access: yesProceedings of the 8th International Symposium on NDT in Aerospace, 2016
Numerous techniques of non-destructive testing (NDT) of structural parts of CFRP are investigated. In this paper electromechanical impedance (EMI) technique is studied as an NDT tool for assessment of adhesive bonds. In order to perform the assessment a surface mounted piezoelectric sensor is used.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.
