Improved scenario of baryogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1999
It is assumed that, in the primordial plasma, at the temperatures above the mass of electron, fermions are in the neutral state being the superposition of particle and antiparticle. There exists neutral proton-electron symmetry. Proton-electron equilibrium is defined by the proton-electron mass difference.

Boundaries of photosynthesis: adaptations of carbon fixation in extreme environments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photosynthesis faces challenges from environmental extremes of temperature, pH, and salinity, limiting gas diffusion, modifying membrane fluidity, and destabilizing photochemical and biochemical reactions. Photosynthetic organisms have evolved unique adaptations overcoming these stresses and maintaining their photosynthetic activity.

Iron‐dependent lysosomal LDL oxidation induces the expression of scavenger receptor A in human THP‐1 monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In human monocytic cells THP‐1, a limited uptake of native—not oxidized—LDL/VLDL induced expression of scavenger receptor A and cellular adhesion. Induction was inhibited by lysosomotropic (WR‐1065) and lipophilic (BHT) antioxidants and by siRNAs against ferritinophagy.

The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Creep Characterization of Inconel 718 Lattice Metamaterials Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
Herein, the creep characteristics of additively manufactured Inconel 718 metamaterials are investigated. The creep behavior of metamaterials and the effects of microstructural defects are assessed, and the microstructure defects are accurately captured using Kachanov's creep damage model.

Electron-electron Bound States in Parity-Preserving QED3

open access: yes, 2002
By considering the Higgs mechanism in the framework of a parity-preserving Planar Quantum Electrodynamics, one shows that an attractive electron-electron interaction may come out. The e-e interaction potential emerges as the non-relativistic limit of the

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in

Flexural Behavior of Bidirectionally Graded Lattice

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
An experimental study of the bending behavior of bidirectional body‐centered cubic lattice beams is conducted in comparison to uniform and unidirectional counterparts of electron beam melted SS 316 L. Experimental results are used to develop and validate a finite element model which is subsequently used to conduct parametric studies to assess the ...

Quantum decoherence by Coulomb interaction

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
The performance of modern quantum devices in communication, metrology or microscopy relies on the quantum–classical interaction which is generally described by the theory of decoherence.
