The primary electron acceptor in photosynthesis

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1972
Summary ESR studies on light induced reactions in Chromatium D at liquid helium temperatures reveals that the primary electron acceptor of reaction center bacteriochlorophyll has a signal at approximately g 1.82. Hence, the primary electron acceptor is probably an iron-sulphur protein.

NADH oxidation by quinone electron acceptors

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1984
The rate constants of NADH oxidation by quinones are increased with the oxidation potential increase: log kox (M-1 X s-1) = -0.25 + 12.2 E0(7) (V) for o-quinones and log kox (M-1 X s-1) = -3.06 + 13.5 E0(7) (V) for p-quinones (pH 7.0, 25 degrees C). It is assumed that the oxidation proceeds via the hydride-ion transfer.

Alkoxy-Induced Near-Infrared Sensitive Electron Acceptor for High-Performance Organic Solar Cells

Chemistry of Materials, 2018
We develop a fused-ring electron acceptor (IOIC3) based on naphtho[1,2-b:5,6-b′]dithiophene core with alkoxy side-chains and compare it with its counterpart (IOIC2) with alkyl side-chains.

The Electron Affinities of Organic Electron Acceptors

Russian Chemical Reviews, 1977
The principal methods used to determine the electron affinities of organic molecules are examined and the published data in this field are analysed. Briegleb's series, used in the majority of instances, yields absolute values which are too low. The most probable absolute electron affinities are quoted for the majority of organic electron acceptors ...

Electron donor-acceptor couples

International Reviews in Physical Chemistry, 1995
Abstract Two-state small-polaron models commonly used to describe an electron donor—acceptor pair are reviewed. From such models, one obtains a one-dimensional model potential. In the homonuclear case, the reaction coordinate for the potential is an antisymmetric vibrational mode.

Purple Bacteria: Electron Acceptors and Donors

2013
ABSTRACT: Purple bacteria form a heterogeneous group of microorganisms capable of growing under anoxic conditions by anoxygenic photosynthesis. They can be divided in purple non-sulfur bacteria, which are able to grow both phototrophically and in darkness, and purple sulfur bacteria, all of them capable to grow in the light but only few of them in the ...

Spectroscopic studies of electron donor-acceptor interactions: 2,4-dinitrophenol as an electron acceptor

Advances in Molecular Relaxation and Interaction Processes, 1981
Abstract The electron donor-acceptor interactions between 2,4-dinitrophenol and a series of π electron donors have been investigated in hexane by electronic absorption spectroscopy. The interaction is moderately strong. Linear correlations exist between spectroscopic and thermodynamic properties of complexes and the ionization potentials of donors ...

High-Performance Fused Ring Electron Acceptor-Perovskite Hybrid.

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2018
We report the fused ring electron acceptor (FREA)-perovskite hybrid as a promising platform to fabricate organic-inorganic hybrid solar cells with simple preparation, high efficiency, and good stability.
